Because that particular religion has proven to be so, but calling another's religion as loony and primitive is an unnecessary insult.

I'm not in the least surprised that YOU don't agree, Anotheoldgit, but South Park is one of the most brilliantly and consistently funny programmes on TV as well as bitingly accurate. Humour and accuracy are simply wasted on some.

Never in my long years did I ever imagine that I would find common ground with atheists, yet I cannot but agree that the Mormon religion is really fairy tale stuff, loony if you like. You find some strange bedfellows as you get on in in life.

I, on the other hand, have looked at the Daily Mail and - for a fanatical devotee of the brain-dead bilge THAT is - I'm amazed he dares to criticise ANY other aspect of the media!

Well, Em, if Romney's "views and beliefs" are "off the radar", as you say, then so presumably are the identical views and beliefs of other Mormons. Don't the millions of THEM count as "a whole raft of people"? Surely they must, yet you are quite happy, it seems, to consider THEM "loony"!

If the word 'Loony' infers that a person has somewhat of a mental problem, then surely the word in itself has no place in our politically correct world.

One mustn't offend the finer sensitivities of people like that.

Yes, but the association that Mitt Romney is a loony is taking it a bit far, to say the least. It's not as if he has exterminated half of Massachusetts, or expelled all the Jews/Muslims/Amish is it..... What's the substantiation for the comment? Or is it that you do not have a very good cognisance of what the Church of Latter Day Saints is all about as to being a religion or a cult?

Sounds like fear of the unknown to me.....

Romney has described his view of national community as one in which observant Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Jews and Muslims are inside that community = the nonobservant are not. He does not even show a perfunctory sentence showing respect for the non religious.

In Romney's mind, if you believe in the science of the big bang, then you have no place in American (or Western) society.

People who do not believe in a divine Creator will have no place in a Romney administration, regardless of their political or diplomatic abilities.

The governance of American politics would be based upon the compulsory belief in a supernatural figure, whom most of the educated West do not worship, or believe to exist.

And, at the same time, Romney will call Muslim societies backward and primitive because of their adherence to an ancient faith.

And Romney will try to agrue that this is a rational standpoint ... rather than one that is, frankly, loony.
