Never mind, the English will be pleading with the Jocks to sell them WATER soon by the looks of things and - if independence does eventually come north of the border - they won't have any access to North Atlantic OIL either! Meantime, we're quite happy to sell them WHISKY. What product have they got that Scots are prepared to beat a path to their door for?
Yes jake. But that does not make them any cheaper. Nor does it raise their efficiency levels to a realistic level. Nor does it make the cost of energy generated by them economical. Nor do they make any sense. And nor do they make efforts to reduce the 2% of global emissions that the UK generates by 50% (neither desireable nor achievable) any more sensible.
wind farms are a waste of time, money, and spoil just about every view known to man, why someone, anyone thought they were a good idea is beyond me. Scotland would do well to listen, though not sure the arch capitalist is the person who should be lecturing them, considering he has turned good land into manicured golf courses. He is just worried that his plans will go awry for more of the same i expect.

One of the reasons that land turbines are more numerous is that the communty in several project is given a stake in the farm. For example, the village of Fintry where the village approached the developer to put up a tower on their behalf. In short, a company for the village created, the project largely financed by Highlands & Islands. The benefit - well that projects should be environmentally linked. Already, on the early benefits, all houses have been upgraded to leading edge on insulation and they are now starting a new boiler programme for all.
As one farmer says, "when I see the blades turning, I know we as the village are making money for the benefit of the community."
Now isn't it funny that NIMBYism, so admirably represented here by some, disappears.
Trump, of course, has ulterior motives, and yes, his new resort is sited in environmentally sensitive dunes. Some mercenary aspects to all this one, as well.

And once the fecking things are built, they shouldn't need much financing re operations maintenance. NJ, offshore farms are more efficient by their scale and wind-days - cap costs viz mainstream NGas power generation have come down to 5p/kWh viz 3p without considering CO2. Include full CO2 costs (inc manufacturing) and the gap closes to 1p. A 20% increase in NGas prices and then windpower offshore is more competitive.
Englishman who studied in Scotland writing this......The English, esp the Cornish, could get some good learning lessons from the Fintry Farm.

no one knows as yet the impact these offshore wind farm have on wildlife, lets hope the yes voters don't come across information in later years, when it will be too late, that they have killed off many species of marine life. I hate them whether they are on land or far out to see, i rarely say hate, it's negative, but that is what i feel about wind farms.

We've got a massive wind farm off the coast here .The hum and thrum of it when the wind is in the right direction is really noisy for people who live right up on the coast .There's also a huge eyesore right in the middle of the town further down the coast .Half the the time the turbines are not working .
Green energy my eye .Leccy bills are still sky high .
