What a waste of money, and we are paying for it!!!!
Considering all the cuts we have been experiencing, wouldn't it be be better to use a Courier Service for the Olympic Torch?

Better we rehearse these things in advance to understand the crowd implications and security implications and so on.
Or would you rather it went wrong on the actual day, making us look stupid in the eyes of the world.
I am sure the Mail would blast headlines all over the place if it went wrong such as "Torch carrier takes wrong route" or "Torch relay ruined by spectator".
I am currently in Bath for a visit and the torch is going in front of the Royal Crecent. Yesterday men were relaying the pavement in front of the Royal Crecent to get it flat and make it look nice.
This torch relay will be a chance to show off some of the great places in the UK, and encourage more tourism, so we need to get it right.
Of course people like you can only moan, getting your opinions from the Daily Mail.
Have you ever tried to organize anything the size of the olympics? If you did you may realise the thjousdands and thousands of things that need to be taken into consideration.

Apparently we won't be allowed the benefit of seeing this spectacular ship sailing down the Thames.

/// But the plans for the dramatic final leg of the Olympic torch relay are reportedly being scrapped by LOCOG following fears that it would attract large crowds along the River Thames that would be difficult to control and could pose security threats. ///
Strange, won't there already be large crowds along the River Thames, and won't the whole process of the Olympics also pose security threats?

Personally, I think the IOC and BOC are a bit up their own rectums, lacking a sense of humour.
Bournemouth seemed to have joined them - bloody HSE and all that - what fun the local kiddies could have had.
Thank God for this work of art revealed this week for the Olympics. Worth every penny.....
