Well we are according to ex footballer John Barnes, does he suggest that we burn all these classics, such as the Nazis did in the 30s?

These books were written in a different age and reflected the feelings of explorers, colonist etc when they ventured into strange lands and encountered the natives of these lands, some which were proved to be very strange, savage and leading much different lifestyles to their own.

If these peoples also had such authors, they would have most likely have written the same sort of things about the white man.

So, was the rocket attack racist or homophobic, where does it fit in with the OP?
"The black servants knew where they stood in the hierarchy and were content to do so." So why aren't all black people still being servants now?

I thought this questions was about John Barns, AOG.
"Older Brotons are more racist than younger Britons (who are much more likely to work with and/or have non-white friends). "

I see sp1814, so while this guy judges me by my race, you are judging me by my race and my age, and concluding that I'm racist and have no non-white friends.

In my book that makes you a racist and a bigot.
sp1814,
So I'm white, I'm 60, and I live in the South, according to you that makes me a racist, correct??

It is, I was merely pointing out that although the throwing of a banana skin has certain implications, it is hardly physically injurious.
anotheoldgit, you say the throwing of the banana skin has certain implications, what exactly are those implications?
We need good teachers of imperial/colonial history. Loyalty & respect would then be found for this host nation. No-one is forced to live here.

On the contrary, all are given basic rights of income, medics & roofs to feed & live. The grass is not greener in Africa, sub continent or asia.

Slavery: if you bother to check, african tribal leaders sold their men.
John Barnes is a racist as are many people around the World.
I think on the whole this country is the most tolerant on Earth yet we continually keep getting accused of being a bunch of swivelled eyed xenophobics.
Barnes came from Jamaica and made a good living here through football,he wouldn't have been allowed to if this country was a racist one.
The literature he complains about is from another age and doesn't reflect todays society

Barnes just has a big chip on his shoulder that's all.
If we are going to ban books that endorse racism , incest and a host of other 'sins' we had better start with the Bible and the Quran.
Well said Eddie.
really, pdq1?

Who owned you? You've worked without pay? Have you alerted the police? It's illegal now, you know.
Eddie, Barnes said nothing about banning books, aog just made that up.

Please tell us about your enslavement.
Yes jno, but it made the story more sensational.
