Surely they could have been charged for keeping a dangerous animal?

I have all sympathy for the child I would be devastated if any of mine but the argument here is that the owners should have been charged. I can't see a 2 year old child opening a gate.

It's these types of owners that scare me. I reckon that almost ANY dog in their care would be dangerous, as that's the reason these morons want them, not for a loving family pet.
A poor child has been injured, a dog has been put down, now I know who I blame.

A 2 year old should not be able to open a tall back gate (as this was) if it had been properly secured. Our back gate is the same design and my 4 year old grandson can't open it.
