Just been reported on BBC that if John Terry was found guilty of racial abuse, he could be fined £2,500.

May he apply for time to pay?

bazwillrun - i can be serious - and i am.

You can trivialise any situation if you wish - and plenty of people do, but the fact is that a nasty vicious racial insult was spoken, and dealt with appropriately.

Doing things 'in the heat of the moment' is a reason, not an excuse - the two are very different.
"but the fact is that a nasty vicious racial insult was spoken"

Vicious racial insult....... please, get over yourself

anyway thats for the court to decide

I'm sure theres an amateur dramatics society near you that would appreciate you as a member !
bazwillrun - belittle and scoff all you like - I believe that such nastiness and denigration from one person to another has no place in modern society - and the legal system appears to agree with my stance rather than yours.
"and the legal system appears to agree with my stance rather than yours. "

would that be the same legal system thats being held to ransom by its own PC shadow !

You'll have me in tears you keep this up
I don't think we are getting anywhere with this exchange, and it's not adding anything to the thread, shall we stop now?

If only JT had said that to Ferdinand, he could have avoided all this trouble.
From what I have read ludwig Ferdinand started the fracas - unfortunately Terry ended it unwisely.
Is it possible to say anything whilst spitting?
Anton Ferdinand never made a complaint to either the police or the FA, A member of the public complained to the police and it has gone from there.
Probably one of the handwringers that comes on here !
If Terry gets found guilty over this, perhaps the FA should consider not have mixed Black and White teams, just in case further down the line, it will be deemed a racial assault if white player commits a foul on a black player.
I don't think he will be found guilty Aog.
is it me or are most highly paid footballers are twonks?
oooops too many 'are's.....^^^

'' If Terry gets found guilty over this, perhaps the FA should consider not have mixed Black and White teams... ''

Yeah , and why not go back to the days of having the black folks sitting at the back , on busses and giving up their seats , when white folks come on

Or having separate restaurants for black and white folks

etc etc
"Or having separate restaurants for black and white folks "

there are plenty of clubs and pubs where a white person wouldnt dare go in let alone be allowed in.

I have a black pub very close to me , and the police dont even go there to do them for the drugs that are being openly smoked outside on the patio.

Its a well known local fact that whites wouldnt be welcome in there.
rather off the thread don't you think. ^^^
as it is the words that were spoken, at least those reported were very nasty, and not ones to be used on or off the football pitch.
The problem with this story is that Mr Terry is already cast as a scumbag to a number of people. If you compare him to Bobby Moore or Gary Lineker, he comes up short.

You could argue that few people feel disapointed in John Terry, because like Joey Barton, he's not regarded as a great ambassador for his profession (taking this from the footie-supporting lads at work).

There ae those who will defend him, and then there are those who will reserve judgement until the case is concluded.

Me - well, I actually saw him today because the magistrate's court where the case is being heard is five minutes from my office. All I can say is that he is taller than I expected and his Armani black label suit was quite admirable (although it was one size too small).
AOG

How come there are so few stories of black players abusing white players with racist epithets? Do you think it's because there's a dearth of insults for white people in general? I mean - if you want to insult a black player, you have monkey, n****r, c**n, darkie, g***wog, wog etc?

Why do you think there's such a huge lexicon on derogatory words for black people, and none for white? Apart from 'honky', which no-one has said since 'Love Thy Neighbour' went off the screens?
