So in less than 10 years our population has increased by 4 million and these are the legal ones. A rough estimate would be 1 million illegals.

Given the size of Birmingham is about 1 million that makes it equivalent to 5 new Birminghams within 10 years. And the politicians just throw their hands up in the air and do nothing seriously about it but waffle.

As this increase is exponential gawd knows what the future of the next ten years will hold.

Of the 3.7 million growth 2.07 million was due to direct immigration and the rest of the growth, 1.7 million, is due to the excess birth rate amongst immigrants, due largely to immigrants often being couples seeking a better life together and from countries where large families are the norm. Without the last 20 years of immigration the birth rate would be less than the death rate and the population would be declining.

Anyone who thinks this overpopulation is a good idea cannot be "Green" because it results in the consumption of vast amounts of resources and destroys the natural environment. Limiting population growth is the simplest and most direct way of balancing our lives with nature.

Anyone who thinks this overpopulation is a good idea cannot be a "Socialist" because much of the deprivation in England is due to poverty in the immigrant ghetto zones such as Lambeth, Peckham etc. They cannot be socialist because without the need to find several hundred thousand new jobs for incomers there would be enough employment. No true socialist would favour the employment of large numbers of EU migrants on the minimum wage.

of course we are AOG. At one time the town where i live and the next one was divided by a mile. Now they are practically joined together. Some lovely green spaces gone forever. We've practically concreted our country over.

Immigrants, by virtue of they tend to be poor, tend to live in high occupancy dwellings, typically 6-8 per house. The concreting over of the South is more to do with there being more people living on their own, in single dwellings.

Gromit, the ONS, government and almost all commentators have said that migration is a major element of population growth. In the first few years immigrants do indeed overpopulate ghettoes but their children are just like your children. They grow up and move to Crawley and Milton Keynes.

The raciscm of the pro-immigration lobby always leaves me astonished. Immigration has a terrible effect on our ethnic minority population, displacing them from jobs and destroying their social provision but the post-marxist pro-immigration lobby wants this pain.
