oops. acw and andy you are both right. I was a bit fast there. I had no idea what had actually happened and now I guess I'm just defending myself... Well you're absolutely right, this wasn't very nice of us.

its not caused offence annacwood, but im the person left on this planet after a loved one commits suicide...

im 23 and bitter and angry towards them.... i find it hard to be sympathetic.... my cousin killed himself, while staying at my house the night b4 my mums funeral, i woke to find him and his suicide note.... i was 19

Am I the only person who thinks it is a bit strange that he had the door open to look where he was going? It was according to the BBC 01.53am, therefore dark!!

Latest news from the BBC. He has a lot of bad luck.

Only he knows the true answer and if he recovers i hope he can get his head round his obvious problems and sort his life out

I used to work for Mercedes

His car weighs pushing 2 tonnes, so its gonna hurt

The reason he was leaning out of the door (as I have done it to avoid doing the same thing) was to avoid curbing his alloys

I open the door to look when I'm reversing, it just makes it easier.

I'm sorry to hear the sam82.  However, I was actually asking people to show a little more sympathy towards those affected by suicide (attempts) - that very much inlcudes those left behind.  It sounds like you're p*ssed off by what I said - I hope that's not the case!

Milly143 - I don't think the question was offensive, I just thought that some of the answers were.  So I wasn't criticising you at all!  I just didn't like the ill-advised jokes and "publicity" jibes.

Sorry - that was me.  All posts by annacwood were actually me.  I had sign in problems and used a spare ID.  I wasn't trying to deceive anyone - sorry if I did!

I suppose it is possible as you don't have a seatbelt on when you are reversing anyhow. If you are sat leaning towards passenger side with an open door behind you and you hit another car hard enough to rip your door half off then I guess the jolt would throw you out backwards and if you  were on a slope or in an automatic car then bingo .. I think he is the worlds biggest wally but that  doesn't mean I wish him any harm.  Its touch and go over next 72 hours  for him now so I've heard.

it is quite common for people to hold the door open while reversing.  He was driving a mercedes, a sports model at that and these tend to be automatic cars...sooo  really it is quite plausible this could be a 'genuine accident'

As far as suicides attempts go...I really dont think so!

I think your all missing the point here. Whether it was a suicide attempt (which i very much doubt) or an accident, surely the most important point is that the poor blokes unconsious in hospital in a very bad way. How you can joke about a publicity stunt is beyond me. Ask yourself what his family must be feeling right now and perhaps whether you would appreciate such comments in their position.
