Could he be a help or a hindrance at the next election if he takes a prominent part in Labour? Would it change your voting position?

He carries too much political baggage. A pervasive sense amongst the electorate that the early promise of the Blair government was eroded far too quickly by the taint of cronyism.Big incursions into civil liberties. Poor oversight and negotiation of PFIs. A raft of "consultants" brought into the civil service /government at huge cost. More than anything else, the war in Iraq, and the perception that Blair was little more than Bush's poodle.
I think he would cost labour a lot if they were to give him a prominent role.

I don't like militant Labourites, but I believe that grassroots Labour principles are based on good humanity and compassion and looking after one's fellow human beings. Tories, however, appear to me to be, largely, people who think that unless you are acute in mind and body and/or rich, you don't deserve a shot in life and should be content to just survive. There seems to be two types of Tory; those who have venom against the above or those who are naively misguided in their thinking eg Anne Widdecombe, who I believe possesses not a malicious bone in her body, but has much to learn about the real world.
