- Who is deserving of a gong and the type ?

- not every gold medalists will receive one - so those who aren't will be rightly pi**ed of I should think - should they be ?

- What should be the criteria - 1 gold ? 2 gold ..... ?

why should anyone get a gong for doing their job? I just don't get it.

When civil awards are dished out to people for doing the thing that they get paid for it just cheapens the value of those awards given to people who go above and beyond and expect nothing for it.

Dame Laura Trott seems par for the course after winning 2 gold medals in Cycling.

I don't get a gong for doing my job, but then I've never represented my country, or been best in the world at doing anything. The gold medal should be gong enough.

I would personally value a gold medal above any honour these days, looking at some of the people who get them, a gold medal will still have a greater rarity value, 26 golds against pages and pages of small type in the DT!

Cameron has said with so many British olympians winning gold medals it may upset the present system. He is proposing that they will all receive MBE's not knighthoods or dames as it will tend to cheapen the title.
