No. The 1 million he gave the Tories came from his legitimate earnings. The 28million he stole was p1ssed up the wall on yachts, Ferraris, fine wines and gambling.

Robert Maxwell was a big Labour supporter. I'm guessing he made donations that they didn't pay back. I am just guessing - if he didn't make any donations or they did pay them back, I'm happy to stand corrected.

think Maxwell was more than a supporter......fully paid up member I believe, didn't he stand at an election? Still must not mention when Labour receive money under suspicious circumstances.

Robert Maxwell was a Labour MP from 1964-70 and a crook who stole £400million from the Mirror Group pension fund. The Daily Mirror supported Labour and was the best selling newspaper at the time. But He did not make donations to the Labour Party. Contributions from private individuals were extremely rare and the Unions were strong and wealthy, they didn't need or get much dosh from business men.

my suggestion is that he did, but as already been said over and again, all parties need donations, otherwise they don't survive.

We personally know his share fixer who managed to escape prosecution. Obviously the SFO decided to ignore this side and concentrate on the money movements to Cyprus. The decision to ignore what led to the crash of his shares involved £bns and this amount is small fry considering the amount that was lost by investors who will never see their money back.

Nadir will be sentenced this morning and the max penalty is said to be 14 years. What's the betting he will be released from a cosy soft prison with 4 years.

He probably got sick of not being able to travel without fear of arrest and extradition so he thought he'd take gamble on being able to beat a British court. It obviously didn't pay off.

as been pointed out why should they, if that money was not stolen, or known to be when it was donated. Can you tell me any party, person who would return it. Even if they do, who should it go to, people who invested in Polly Peck, their workforce, the taxpayer.

Maybe its because the Tory party is based on crooks. Just thinking of Aitken, Archer, duck houses, etc. and these are the one I can recall.
