21 Years for killing 77 people, how on earth is that justice? Why didn't he get 77 life sentences?

It's Norway, not the UK
That is discusting, he should never be free to roam the streets again.
it doesn't seem right, what would a life sentence have added to to though? 15 years?
Question Author
Well then apparently in Norway you can get away with a mere 21 years (which will probably end up being 10) for mass murder! The families of the victims and the survivors must be devastated.
Is there any sentence which can offer the right retribution to this crime, apart from a well placed bullet? As you say, DT, this is Scandinavian justice and that's all about it.
Although the sentencing terms seem curiously light in comparison to the massacres he has committed - a sentence of a minimum of 10 years, and a maximum of 21 years - the sentence is one of "preventative detention", allowing the state to extend the term of his imprisonment indefinitely, as I understand it. He will be given a right of appeal every 5 years, but I would suggest a snowball has a greater chance of surviving hell than Breivik does of leaving jail before he is old, frail, and grey.
^ So why don't they just give him a longer sentence in the first place, rather than going through that charade every five years? We all know he's never going to come out.
And a state sanctioned execution would be playing into this sociopaths wet dreams. He wants to be martyred.

He should be and is being denied his fantasy.Locked up, isolated, turned into a figure of pathos and subject of ridicule for the rest of his life seems about right, to me................
Does seem odd, but it is not the UK and people in different countries have different cultures so we must respect the decision even if it seems abhorrent to us.

I suspect, as suggested above, that he wont be coming out though. In addition I would imagine he will have to be treated like a NONCE. 21 years of isolation waiting for an attack to happen is a long time.
The Norwegians must be doing something right. In a normal year the murder rate per 100,000 of population (0.6) is precisely half that of the UK (1.2).

it's not Britain, they have an entirely different set up in Norway. However i happen to agree with you.
Breaking news - another horror

Several people have been shot in an incident near the Empire State building in New York.
Did anyone see the accommodation this murdering savage is going to enjoy?

Three cell to himself, one for sleeping, one for exercising (complete with equipment) and one for relaxing (complete with a lap-top).

No wonder he didn't want to be found insane, obviously now he can continue to get his message over.
AOG, how is he going to do that from jail?
//em10 AOG, how is he going to do that from jail?//

I think that AOG thinks that because he has got a laptop in the cell , he will have unlimited access to sending emails and the internet - which would be unbeleivable if that was the case
if someone gives him a laptop, sorry don't know why i didn't see that bit, they are are bonkers as he is.
he's got a laptop, denied internet access
just now on the news, reporter said that after 10 years if they consider he is dangerous to release then he will spend the rest of his life in prison. So will assume he doesn't come out, as can't see him changing his ways, ideas even in prison.
too dangerous,
