This scheme is to be implemented in London at first, and then if successful it will be 'rolled out' across the rest of the country.
Although I agree with this in principle, does one think it will really be successful?
Can any one see a problem?

Quite right too!
Some people have never ever had to get up in the morning to get somewhere at a set time and then spend a set number of hours there. They have never seen anyone in their family do this either. They have never had to dress appropriatel y for work and believe that they 'have the right' to wear the same type of clothes at work that they choose to wear in...

/// it has been rather funny watching aog trying to extract both his feet from his mouth this time.....another perfect example of his 'fair' and 'non-judgemental' approach to life. ///
There is no judging for some's infantile sense of humour.
Once again a prime example of one not being used to apologising so much so that they consider it belittling and 'extracting both feet from one's mouth' rather than being a man and apologising.
Is it any wonder that you chose to portray yourself as an insect?

aog....you can sit there all inflated and feeling self-important if you like. it certainly was funny watching you come out with your usual crap and insulting opinions....and for once being well and truly caught out, showing what a 'gentleman' you really are. at least i don't park myself on here and sling personal insults around when i get bored and have nobody else to talk to.
I've always thought that the type of 'work' mentioned in the article should be meted out to convicted offenders of minor crimes, rather than fine them because the vast majority simply don't bother paying so get away scot free anyway.
This crazy scheme amounts to no more than a 'sing for your supper' kind of blackmail. And who will be expected to enforce it? Not any dodgy MPs, that's for sure.

These government schemes have good intentions but many are based on whats been done before. In the not to distant fast they gave claimants and extra £10 pw in addition to their dole.
The companies that employed them saw it as a form of cheap labour especially if the claimant has skills. Rather than give them extra training they occupied positions where a full time worker was required. The company was also paid by the government to take them on.
How do I know.....personal experience.

This sort of scheme has been going on for a while, I work in a charity shop and we had 6 people on this scheme. They do 30 hours a week, we had to fill in a sheet to say what they have done and someone checks up on the once a week, scheme lasts 4 weeks, 3 have stayed on, two were a nightmare and didn't want to be there and one resented being made to do it and left, her money was stopped. There is also a scheme for 16 to 19 year olds 25 hours a week min pay for 6 months.
The main problem is if they don't want to do it they make life very difficult for the other staff.

I disagree with the principle. If there is work that needs doing someone should be allowed to apply for the paid job to earn a living at it. To insist it should be unpaid is simply wrong. It is stealing a livelihood from someone. There is no excuse for keeping work unpaid so you can force those on welfare to do it. There'd be fewer on welfare if the work was paid.
The only reason there may be a shortage of housing is that there are too many people. If folk were encouraged to have smaller families and immigration was cut to no more than there is emigration there would be no need to look for scapegoats to blame and persecute. Besides there are plenty of 'for sale' boards in my local area so where's this shortage ?
Good grief Gromit ...

I'd be as much use as a chocolate teapot in the workplace these days and my home is bought and paid for and I intend to stay in it as long as possible .So Mr Camerons "key adviser ",whoever he is, can go and do one .
