The EDL and Anders Breivik
Will the EDL find it difficult to shrug off its reputation of being an extremist group when members voice support for the mass murderer Anders Breivik?

Isn't showing support for Anders Breivik effectively simpathising with a terrorist?
I may not agree with Coalition policy, but that doesn't mean that I have the right to trap 70 odd members of the Young Conservatives and shot them down...surely?

Loading the 12 bore as we speak eh Gromit ;-)
These extreme right wing groups may not have achieved much in the UK, thank goodness, but in other countries in Europe have done much better.
If you allow immigration at a rediculous level (as Noo labour did) then people will feel alien in their own country. That is not good for anyone. But then I am being racist probably in most of your 'right-on' minds.

Norway has very low levels of immigration from non-EU countries.
And with regards to the UK, we have political parties which we can vote for at General Elections whose mandate is to change immigration policy.
So couldn't it be argued that voicing support for a terrorist is no different to voicing support for anyone who tries to effect change by the gun as opposed to the ballot box?
How is Andres Breivik any different from the 7/7 bombers?

Surely the issue of immigration and race aren't synonomous? Recent waves of economic migrants have been from Eastern Europe...and they are racially from the same stock as the indigenous population of the UK.
In my opinion, it would be racist to try and block immigration from all non-whites, but I don't think any party is currently advocating that (happy to be proven wrong on that one...).

Please don't make assumptions like that about my thought processes, young, or dismiss them as "right-on" if you want your own vews treated respectfully.
Actually, imo, immigration policy has been an absolute mess under successive governments since the sixties, and that - alongside several other factors - has contributed to some white working class alienation.
Whether or not that justifies them cheerleading for a murderer is another matter.

stupid spats aside, i made the point about there being other interested groups, just as there are extremists fanatical Muslims, there are also extremist fanatical Christians, and i wasn't lumping EDL or BNP in the last category. If people don't want to read links it's their prerogative, however sometimes you have to lift the lid to see what is going on in your world, local, and outside. I too have lived a long not always interesting life, and have learned a good deal, why should that make a shred of difference to this debate.
