/// The MoD has refused to reveal how many attacks there have been on service personnel, who were forced to plug gaps in security at London 2012 after G4S failed to recruit enough security staff. ///

Why do they once again try too sweep these matters under the carpet?

The cowardly attack upon a service man, by a group of four Asian men happened on Monday 6 August, why has the news only just broke, had it had been an attack on a solitary Asian men by a gang of four soldiers, it would have been broadcast with vigour and disgust very much sooner.

oh nevermind AOG, its only a minority and not representative of most islamic views *rolls eyes*
Had they not been Asian would this have got a mention?
either in the telegraph or here?

I wondered about that that too

LOL Instead of addressing the news story entered, you find it necessary (in defence of these four savages) to take another trip down memory lane to see if you can find a similar case.

But you missed the point, not in anyway trying to defend those two who committed the crime, but that was two servicemen fighting another two servicemen, in a drunken brawl and one got 8 years for it and the other 7 years.

The one I posted was a vicious attack on one soldier out of uniform by four cowardly and savage cowards.

I wonder how long they will get inside if they ever catch them?

/// Had they not been Asian would this have got a mention? ///

It certainly would have been if the victim had been Asian, there are some on here that would have certainly posted on it.

Seems strange that this cowardly attack, and the other verbal abuses and harassments on service personnel during the Olympics have only just come to light, so much so that I can only find a Telegraph report highlighting it.

/// Naval personnel were subjected to abuse and extremist leafleting around HMS Ocean at Greenwich Pier, south London. ///

Why have there been no arrests?
Quite possibly because they're isolated incidents?

I see you've got some nice new badges aog, congrats
We need never to go to far flung places to fight wars. By our immigration policies the enemy is on our doorstep. The hatred of many immigrants towards this country has festered into their offspring who were born here.
Hate is not a crime but the actions resulting from it have created a boiling cauldron from one section of the community to the other.

As far as I know the servicemen were in civvies so how were they recognised I wonder.
No, your original question was 'why was this attack swept under the carpet when if it had been an attack by soldiers on an Asian blah blah blah in your usual tedious vein. Frankly getting the reply it deserved. All attacks like this are to be condemned I'm sure most people would agree
///It certainly would have been if the victim had been Asian///

He wasn't.

Let's twist again!
It doesn't appear to have been swept under the carpet. If it had, the Telegraph wouldn't have published the story at all. The news does, however, appear to have been withheld for a while. Perhaps it was felt to be a diplomatic course of action during the Olympics.
No one should condone such actions. Anytime a group attacks one individual is repugnant. How is it being swept under the carpet though? The Telegraph is reporting it,such as it is, and where is the evidence that it was a "spate" of attacks? From the article, we have one documented case, one allegation of extremist leafleting of naval service personnel, and an unsubstantiated claim of a "spate" of attacks from an unnamed source.

So the facts, as they currently stand, point to isolated cases, and not really newsworthy or indicative of anything other than the fact that people can act aggressively to others. Hardly worthy of your usual rhetorical hyperbole....

To answer your queston, or perhaps to get you to better clarify:

"Why do they once again try too sweep these matters under the carpet?"

Do you mean the MoD?

First of all, it's not service personnel who should 'walk around in groups'...it should down to the police to ensure that members of the public - including the services - do not meet with abuse whilst going about their lives.

By the way - regarding the broadcasting of this story - I'm not sure that the popular press really shies away from reporting stories of Asians or Muslims committing crimes (cf. Muslim groomers over the past few months).

By the way - these attacks go on all time time, but it's usually gay men who end up with busted faces in hospital, not servicemen.

The newspapers do a an even better job of ignoring those stories.

"Naval personnel were subjected to abuse and extremist leafleting"

Not extremist leafleting? Oh, my the poor things must have been terrified!

Yes you could be right, there must have been many gay 'Olympic Hosts' in their pink uniforms attacked during the Olympics.

Why have we heard nothing about it?
I live near an army base and unfortunately such attacks are common and do not make the news. It is a lot better than it used to be when 'Squaddie bashing' was a regular occurence.

/// "Naval personnel were subjected to abuse and extremist leafleting" ///

/// Not extremist leafleting? Oh, my the poor things must have been terrified! ///

So you think that it is quite in order for potential terrorists to hand out their extremist literature do you?

I wonder if these leaflets had been extremist Right Wing ones, you would have took it so lightly?

Taking into consideration that these potential terrorists are capable of killing and maiming people, yet the English Defence League or any other Right Wing group, have never yet murdered anyone on Britain's tube or buses.

/// First of all, it's not service personnel who should 'walk around in groups'...it should down to the police to ensure that members of the public - including the services - do not meet with abuse whilst going about their lives. ///

Are you suggesting that Service Men and Women should be escorted by Police Officers as they go about their lawful business?

/// I'm not sure that the popular press really shies away from reporting stories of Asians or Muslims committing crimes (cf. Muslim groomers over the past few months). ///

Perhaps not the press but at the start of these Asian grooming cases, the Police openly admitted that they tried to play them down at the beginning, in their continuing quest for racial harmony.

You have hit the nail on the head, why when they have been born and educated in this country do some of them hate us so much?

/// As far as I know the servicemen were in civvies so how were they recognised I wonder. ///

It was by the service bag he was carrying.

/// The soldier was not in uniform, but was targeted by the attackers because he was carrying a military bag. ///
