Duncer: "THE BOY DONE GOOD"!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy Murray - Grand Slam Champion!!! What a match - Djokavic was brilliant as well, but Andy would not be denied!
You have to admit it, Duncer, Fred Perry couldn't have 'lived' with either of these guys tonight - a fantastic final fitting to win any Grand Slam!
Andy Murray - Braveheart hero of Scotland and Great Britain!!! Salute him!!!

Kerosene, many thanks; seeing my name in the title of a post woke me up properly, or shocked me awake more like. I'm ashamed to say I fell asleep last night at one set up and 4-1 up, but I did have a very heavy weekend.
I have never ever said that Fred Perry could beat any of these guys, merely that he won slams in his era, and we can only judge people of their eras, and...

flip-flop,
Sorry, mate, but you are exactly the type who keeps the pot boiling by your anti-Scots tirades. Who did you cheer in the Olympics? Only English sportspeople? Personally, I cheered for every Team GB athlete.
And anyone who believes that the the pudding has been over-egged regarding some of the anti-Scottish vitriol aimed at Andy Murray should check back on some of the threads when he has been the subject. Not all comments anti, but enough to suggest that there is a deal of dislike of him stemming from that silly widely misquoted article from 2006.
I'm someone who happens to believe that Britain has 4 proud nations within it, each of course with rich histories and rivalries, but those rivalries are sometimes dressed up as such when actually they only mask a detestation for others. Just an opinion, folks.
Murray has won that title for GB, but he is also a proud Scot as well. Nothing wrong with that.

I have never ever said that Fred Perry could beat any of these guys, merely that he won slams in his era, and we can only judge people of their eras, and by their achievements in those eras. Using those criteria Fred was a great. Andy is now on his way to being one too, althpough he does have to contend with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, three of the greatest players ever.
I'm not a huge Murray fan, although that doesn't mean I dislike him either, just that I am a tad ambivalent about him. Sometimes sportspeople come along that you just can't take to. I am a huge Northern Ireland fan, as well as a fan of Northern Ireland sport, but I could never really get behind Dennis Taylor as I disliked his "jovial silly Irishman" pastiche. However, in European football I am quite happy to cheer on teams considered the "enemies" of my own, purely for the co-effificient points a small country like ours needs.
Finally, well done Andy, a great win.

It's a traditional thing and, in, my opinion, tongue in cheek. This clip was for a Wales v England rugby game. I'm not a Murray fan, nor even uch of a tennis fan, but asolutely thrilled for him, for Scotland and for Britain. Well done Murray! Hey, that could be an Aberdeen Angus steak on a menu in Scottish restaurants - A WELL DONE MURRAY!!!
The word HATE is horrible, the only thing I hate is rice pudding.
I find it quite odd that we all seem to be able to like/dislike people in the public eye. Who we don't actually know, one example is my liking of Tiger Woods but not Phil Mickleson. Why? I haven't got the foggiest.
I am a fan of many sports but tennis isn't one of them. That said, I congratulate Andy Murray on his achievement, well done.
In response to earlier posts from Wharton, I found his comments quite distasteful however, like it or not, and i dont, he is entitled to his opinion.
