As is usually done, it was all about the political expediency of the time, and FDR,Churchill et al needed Stalin & the Soviet Forces for the Alliance against the Nazi forces. I feel that it should have come out before this though!

That's why I thought it was interesting. All too easy to blame it on the bad old Nastys and exonerate the truly guilty.
It is interesting.

The yanks had a number of deals going with the soviets - not least an agreement that the soviets could have free reign in eastern europe as long as they restrained the communists threatening to take power in western countries such as France, Holland and Italy.
And I believe the yanks were also very quiet on the subject of thousands of german pows kept indefinitely as slave labour by the soviets.
Didn't we send Cossacks/Ukrainians or whatever back to Stalin knowing they would be killed?
Not really interesting or surprising. Even more unsurprising is the fact the left BBC have picked up on it.
once again youngmafbog fails to explain why the rabid commie Daily Mail has also picked up on it

That's subjective; I found it interesting. However, the question mark after the post title means I respect the right of others to make up their own minds.
