why wasn't she given a longer sentence, I feel so strongly about this having lost my first son a full term still born, I think she may be in for a rough ride in prison and when she gets out.

Oh jeez, she is just sick!
i thought 8 years was pretty steep to be honest. What i don't get is why she didn't do anything sooner
8years for murder? In my humble opinion,it isn't long enough!
it's not murder though
and by that i mean the charge wasn't murder
Why isn't it? That baby was to term, fully formed, it was a person and she went out specifically to research how to kill her baby.
Oh right....I see what you mean. It should have been though.
i suppose it just seems a long time for someone who is obviously mentally ill
Awful.
If the fetus/baby hadn't drawn breath though, is it still murder?
no, it isn't - she wasn't charged with murder
I think so, that baby would be classed as viable so, yes, in my opinion it was cold blooded, pre-meditated murder.
ahhh, right, ok.
Nope, just as stabbing a full-term pregnant woman through the womb, killing her baby but not her, is not murder. A foetus at any stage is not classified as a person. Something to do with the law on abortion, but this aspect of it is sick ...

Hence she was charged with "administering a poison with intent to procure a miscarriage." If she was mentally ill then she would have had a defence. As it was, she had none ...
What happens to her two other children ??
Her defence claimed that the bevy was stillborn. That means there's an element of doubt (regarding the status of murder).

However, the child 's body has not been recovered, so there is no way to use forensic tests to prove/disprove whether it was really stillborn (and who knows whether the drug she self-administered actually caused the still birth.

Very difficult to view this dispassionately. There are so many people longing to adopt, and this just seems like a wicked waste of a potential life.
'bevy'??

Bloody spellchecker.

Read 'baby'
