yes it is.
everyone's life is precious
well It was more shocking to me that these two officers were killed by someone who knew they were female yet stilled killed them, that's how completely evil it was.
I don't think it's wrong. It's just something we're programmed to do.
yes and it's not easy for me to call them police officers rather than policewomen, bearing in mind i recall a time when there weren't policewomen.
dotty.

/// well It was more shocking to me that these two officers were killed by someone who knew they were female yet stilled killed them, that's how completely evil it was. ///

Why were you more shocked by the fact that he knew they were female but still killed them dotty?
I thought that yesterday when I heard someone ask why there weren't any guys available to go.
because in my little world, of peace and tranquility and superhero stuff, women and children first and men holding the door open for me land , there might just have been a chance that 9 out of 10 men would have had a decent thought come into his head when 2 lasses had turned up not 2 blokes, and not gone ahead with the plan.
Crikey, dotty, I hadn't realised you were quite that old.....;o)

I still think that there is a part of 'most' of us that views murders/violence against women as being worse than those of men.

Is it conditioning? I'm not sure.

But it is certainly a tragedy for all the families involved.
if you're going to start picking the bones over that aog don't start cos i don't accept criticism when it's an inherant belief stemming from my upbringing that I can't change nor would want to.
well you know what i mean jack, back in the 70s women were in the police but they didn't get about much , mainly manned the desk etc. i remeber in the mid-80s my niece applied to the met but only because she was 6foot tall and they were the only force talking women (as far as i recall)
I do not think the police officers were female comes into the situation or even the fact they were police officers.
Murder is totally wrong regardless of what the victim does.
My Mum joined Wigan Borough in 1960.
women didn't walk the beat then though, it was way into the 70s before they were given cars! The only ones we saw growing up were the odd one in Z cars !
My Mum did....

She once tripped up the town hall steps and had to complete the remainder of her 'beat' with holes in both knees of her black stockings. LoL

I agree that all life is precious and I was just surprised by my reaction to the fact that I seemed to find it more shocking
there's a side entrance to the town hall now and so she'd be ok!
i think we tend to think that a woman may have children left behind, which is almost always more of a loss than would be a father - that's simple biological programming.
Agree with Andy. Same culture as says 'women and children first'. A culture I was brought up in and still respect. I am not necessarily saying that I am right in believing this.
How can it be Wrong to be Shocked ? As if we can choose !
Biologically women are still the weaker species generally. You can't change what comes naturally. But if women chose to do this sort of work with the risks involved then that is fair enough. But it still shocks most people when it is a woman. And as Brionon says you can't be wrong if you are shocked.
