An entirely different question. And just because it makes sense to you when you post it, it doesn't necessarily follow that your question is 'obvious' to others reading it....(a fact which has been pointed out to you before).

As someone who has been through the justice system (including prison) I think that both punishment and rehabilhitation are needed for most crimes. Prison on its own doesnt work. Most convicts reoffend and the majority of inmates have at least one mental disorder and a large number have addiction problems. You can change the law all you want but until you address the CAUSES of crime you wont change anything.
Nailit, just a quick one for you, I was working in a Metal High Secure, the users used to say to staff, why put me out in the community, I have all I need in here & it does not cost me a penny! you never seen any of us trying to get out do you!!!!!!!! does that tell you that there is something wrong with the justice system?
