Muslim Riots: Just Thugs With A 'Cause'?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19678412
Can such conduct really be justified? Is there really any discernible difference in these rioters to those whose behaviour blighted our cities last year?
Aren't all of these kinds of individuals not just waiting for a supposed 'excuse' to indulge in extreme lawlessness, blatant destruction of property, widespread and flagrant thievery, arson etc ?
What possesses anyone to similarly, so say, 'protest' in such vile and reprehensible fashion even in democracies such as ours?

Duncer,
Yes, indeed, but nevertheless, our own riots have shown that adherence to a given faith is not necessarily an ingredient for rioting to take place?
My main point, although I've used a very current example, is that it seems to be that people hell bent on anarchy need only the slightest excuse to exhibit their most base instincts?
askyourgran,
Absolutely. But do such people even give that a thought?

I thought similar to you except i'd equate it with the terrorism going on in Northern Ireland today. What do they expect to achieve when we already have a peace process and everyone wants to get on with their lives.
The numbers of lives lost because of a silly cartoon is beyond belief. Where are the sensible Muslims who can come out to talk some sense into these fanatics.

Duncer what are they up in arms about? Is it not the fact that someone insulted their religion. Why are they so hysterical? No-one can mention anything about Islam without them jumping up and down like idiots. It's obvious the cartoons videos etc. were done to deliberately arouse them. They are so predictable. Isn't it time they behaved like rational people.

But that is exactly why I referred to them as "uneducated" AYG, as I would anyone who reacted in that way. A rational Muslim would have told me why he was annoyed and constructed a cogent, reasoned argument to tell me why, not burned, maimed and killed in the name of something he probably doesn't even understand.

pdq1,
I can understand the N.I. analogy but I'm not quite sure how relevant their 'cause' is in relation to the Muslim protest which you describe as a 'silly cartoon'?
How 'silly' can people be with one another when each side objects to the other marching around tootling flutes and banging drums? Or having to build large walls between communities for fear of being killed or injured ?
Both are religiously based examples of intolerance - this thread, as I've tried to explain, is angled more towards the futility of rioting in the first place? For whatever reason.
