But it's a work of art, not a monument to celebrate his career. The sculptor is , perhaps, making a point about monuments.

perhaps, there is a fine statue of a couple kissing situated in St Pancras station, which is representative of all those lovely poignant kisses hello and goodbye, which is very much part of the station now.

You have to remember that they have lost most of their wars, drawing one only - which was their Revolution. Therefore they only have failures to celebrate, hence the statue to Zidane.
