Although I disliked Jimmy Saville during his life time, is it fair that all these allegations are now coming to the surface now he is dead?

/// ‘I was angry that everyone kept saying how great he was.’ Now, she says she wants to see him stripped of his knighthood posthumously. ///

One has to ask why in all those years hasn't this woman and all the others come forward before with their stories?

newspapers probably wouldn't have run it whilst he was still alive .
Some young women did come forward with their accounts. Newspaper editors didn't publish because they fear the libel laws.
because often you don't say anything, i know from personal experience.
I wondered the same and there have been a few threads on the matter of which made me accept how hard it must have been for the vitctims and how they'd think nobody would believe them.

But, I wonder if any of them knew it was happening to others or if they thought it was just them? It could have taken just one person brave enough to speak out at first to encourage other alleged victims, and prevent future ones.
And now it is far easier to kick the guy now he can't speak up for himself.
Some did come forward. It was swept under the carpet and hushed up.
kick or expose?
If JS had taken the women to court about their allegations, it would have been their money against his, and I wouldn't be surprised if his money would have won.
Who can tell? We can merely speculate now he is dead.

One of the reasons it was hushed up was because if it had come out Stoke Mandeville and other charities would have lost millions and that was made clear in no uncertain terms by him and others involved.
The ones that tried to speak up, was that just to the media or to the police?
Evian, I'm watching that programme you posted. Did you hear him say 'see you in court' if he said anything negative?
bazwillrun - So let's say for the sake of argument that Osama Bin Laden was donating millions to charities in the UK. That would make it ok for him to carry out his attrocities and we shouldn't touch him?
I haven't watched it yet Ummmm, at work. Will when I get home.
I shouldn't say this, I know, but some people just give me the creeps and he was one of them. This whole thing comes as no surprise and I think that it was his hold over the BBC and 'money' which kept us all in the dark. The blame is firmly on the BBC as far as I am concerned.
please remember those who have spoken out were not women at the time, but young girls, one quoted was fourteen years of age, who wouldn't have experience of a worldly man, and perhaps was cajoled into doing something she knew deep down was wrong. I can't vouch that is what has happened, but i do know that as the time of working for the Beeb there were loads of rumours surrounding him, none good.
