The good news is that at last it seems that overseas aid money to such countries as India is to be cut, but the bad news is, will this saving be passed on for the benefit of this cash strapped country?
And the short answer is 'NO'.
/// But the funds will still be diverted to aid projects abroad, rather than helping to ease the deficit or fund public services here. ///
/// A spending review published by the Department for International Development last year concluded that aid to Russia, China and India would have to be cut. ///
/// Instead, it recommended that money should be diverted to poorer countries such as Kenya and Somalia. ///

How dare they spend money on getting clean drinking water in Somaolia when hard working middle class families over here are having to give up child allowance.
I mean don't they realise some of the Mail's readers are only going to be able to afford one foreign holiday this year because of this!

Talk about people "not getting it"
First comment on the Mail's web site
//Stop all aid until we are rich enough//
Really when's that?
Aid to countrys like Somalia is in our interests and the Mail's readers are too greedy and mean spirited to see it.
The main reason why countries like Somalia are unstable failed states is not because they're African and therefore uncivilised and will always be like that - it's because when you've got absolutely nothing and no hope of any better life there's not much disincentive against jumping in a boat and trying to hijack a ship.
More investments int infrastructure would give them a better chance of a stable government that would benefit us all.
It seems that Cameron has "got it" that foreign aid needs to go where the need is greatest not to countries where we want to increase our influence to get better business deals in setting up call centres.

Do you actually read what you type, has this post anything to do with that matter?
Once again an opportunity to have a dig at 'hard working middle class families over here who are having to give up child allowance',
/// I mean don't they realise some of the Mail's readers are only going to be able to afford one foreign holiday this year because of this! ///
And then a dig at the Daily Mail, (now that is novel), why don't you look to see if this news has been reported by others apart from the DM? Well I have.

Perhaps the readers of these publications will also have to forego some of their holidays?

Incidentally it is now not the first comment on the Mail's website, and little wonder, it's called the freedom of speech Jake, which may seem a little alien to you I know.
Here is the full text for anyone else interested.
/// Stop all aid until we are rich enough - meanwhile the priority should be our own elderly and getting people into full time liveable employment. Aid is not an investment we can afford any more especially when it funds terrorism. ///
Incidentally will you be giving up any of your holidays jake?
Or perhaps you could start off the ball rolling by selling your car, your wide-screen TV, your lap-top, and your smart phone, so as to donate the cash towards getting clean drinking water in Somalia?
