I'm sure the conversation WAS recorded, AOG - surely anything on the private lines would be scrambled and taped?
sog, so it's the purpose of the call that makes it vain, but a photo of the man making a call at his desk, or simply at his desk, for no particular purpose at all doesn't make it vain, but is merely for the purpose of historical record or information (or to show he can use a phone, perhaps)? Well, that's a nicety (or a distinction without a purpose). Do tell, at what point does one become the other?

Is not Cameron phoning Obama soon after Obama had won not as much of a historical record as any other; it's bit up from photos of Obama phoning from or working in a plane, isn't it? What non-vain or historical purpose or purpose of record do they serve? The world already knows that these people do such things. It doesn't need to be told.

Now if the Daily Mail had published these two photographs side by side then, then that would have been a different matter.

Thank you boxtop, for finding that photo, did you watch 'Have I Got News For You' last night, because they also used that photo.

But it seems that the matter of the PM's phone call got more laughs on there than it has produced on this site.

That goes without saying, my reference to Nibble's

/// Well, at least PM talked to Obama, ///

Was a sarcastic comment, seeing that neither Nibble, yourself, myself, or any other ABer, has any proof whatsoever that those pictures were definite proof that Cameron was talking on the phone to Obama.
Does it really matter, AOG? It's a picture - it might be staged, it might not be. There are far more important things in life to get het up about.

Or pictured it seems, so pleased we agree at last.
re your post at 09:43, you're welcome.
Certainly no Tory - staunch SNP me - but it's a non story. Think you should change your newspaper AOG; you seem to be the Mail's PR man.

Totally agree with you, now tell the others.

I wasn't at all 'Het up' when I originally posted a perfectly topical criticising question.

It seems that others chose to get all 'Het Up' over it for some strange reason.

/// PRINCE Harry has phoned home three times from the front line in Afghanistan, the Prince of Wales revealed yesterday. ///

And not a single photograph to show us all.
But Harry doesn't need to woo the electors. Nepotism got him a job for life.
jno - thank you for pointint out AOG's error in his response to me.

AOG - thank you for your apology - accepted of course.
What a non-story? One country's leader phones another to congratulate him - so what? Or, to put another slant on it, politician maximises photo opportunity. That's never happened before.
