Why aren't our leaders prepared to condemn Israel, for these continuous attacks?
Retaliation for rocket attacks from Gaza, and the right to self defence is one thing, but the widespread slaughter that Israel is inflicting on innocent civilians is not the answer surely.
/// President Barack Obama spoke separately to Israeli and Egyptian leaders yesterday as the violence in Gaza intensified. In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he reiterated US support for Israel’s right to self-defence. ///
/// Tonight, David Cameron urged Israel to 'do everything possible' to end the crisis. In a phone call with Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, he expressed sympathy for the continued 'unacceptable' rocket attacks. ///

The US will not allow an attack on Iran (just yet) so this is the next best thing just before an election in Israel.
And I am sure Israel will try to draw Iran into the conflict by saying Palestinian rockets are coming from there.

What is there to condemn, aog ? If your town was being bombarded by rockets, what you expect your government to do? And what would you expect world leaders to say about the response of your government? Civilans will always end up suffering, and that's on both sides, but that doesn't mean that one side should do nothing.

What is there to condemn, aog ?
/// As reported by the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, since 29 September 2000 a total of 7,454 Palestinian and Israeli individuals were killed due to the conflict. ///
/// 1,317 of the 6,371 Palestinians were minors, and at least 2,996 did not participate in fighting at time of death. ///
/// Palestinians killed 1,083 Israelis, including 741 civilians. 124 of those killed were minors ///

Yes, aog, that's what happens when you start killing innocent people in one country (how many Israelis killed were in the armed forces?). Your own country suffers when that country fires back. It happened to Germany and it happens to Gaza. The answer for Gaza's militants to stop. It's hardly a case for condemning Israel in particular. or even at all, at present.
Do I detect the slightest hint of being sardonic in the 14.41 thread of sandy's. If not, then it ought to be removed.
This is a really serious situation as, elections withstanding, given the changes in M-East politics, an invasion by Israel could send the whole lot up, Egypt under its more purist Muslim leadership going into support, then Lebanon and Syria spilling over, Turkey to the north and Iran to the East.......brrrrrrrr, Israel then tempted to neutralise the Iranian nuclear threat. Or may be that is their end game - to incite the Iranians to make the mistake?

This current escalation is down to two things and two things only, it has nothing to do with Israeli elections and if you think it does then you can blame hamas, for it is they who a couple of weeks ago on the back of syria sending shells into israel, decided to jump on the bandwagon and start yet again lobbing rockets into israel.
israel last week agreed to a truce but hamas thought once it was in place , it would be a jolly good wheeze to fire missiles Jerusalem way.
