sorry i just wouldn't.
For arguement sake If you had a partner that was in , say a car accident , and the other party was to blame ; would you refuse compensation from the guilty party's insurer ?

Bear in mind also that you consider that the two presenters were to blame / and are guilty , for this woman's death
FGT. The hospital treating my husband was responsible for his death. I didn't want money from them. Some people would and that is fine.
Why would I have a problem with insurance money? Or, for that matter, his pension?
It was aimed at Em as she had declined to answer i was wondering if she viewed that as blood money too!
Question Author
gness, that i think was directed at me.
Question Author
i am just considering why you would accept it.
I know it was Fried.....I was saying insurance and compensation are very different. Some of us get on a high horse and say stick your compensation money. I'd be certifiable if I said that to the insurance company. :-)

sqad, maybe that was part of the problem, there is much to this which we are not privy too, nor i expect will be, that is how it should be, her job kept her away from her family, as many do. Don't know a great deal about nursing in areas like Bristol, but as she was working at a private hospital here in the capital, going on some personal experience the wages are somewhat better.
Insurance / compensation - you seem to be splitting hairs
Question Author
yes. that has been my point all along.
em....yes I understand that, but her accommodation would need to be paid for, expenses in London are greater than that of Bristol and of course travelling home to see the family.

Would it be worth it...........if it was for financial reasons.
without wishing to start a row, em10, as i do understand you feel strongly about this - but it does seem your emotions and anger at them, means nothing they do is good enough.
you would be complaining if they did nothing.
it is thankfully an extremely unique situation, and there is no precedent for them to follow to do the 'right' thing

they are just trying to ease the burden on the family and show some remorse for whats happening in the only way they can really ... what else can they possibly do?
they can say sorry - but its just a word.... and undoubtedly would not seem enough for some people.

they dont have to do this, they dont have to do anything at all, so i think its good of them to try to help.
Question Author
sqad, perhaps, as said there is some parts, info that hasn't been forthcoming, however i know some people who do commute at weekends because London wages are a lot better than they would get almost anywhere else.
Sqad. You`ve lived in the Middle East. You must have seen the mentality that the workers have there. Leave your family, go where the money is and send it home for the greater good of the family. I`m not surprised her family was in Bristol whilst she was working in London.
237...LOL.....yepp! that is the obvious answer.
Question Author
you are right they don't have to do anything, so why have they, if they don't feel in some way responsible, or perhaps because of the very bad press they are getting. If some reports are correct the British police have become involved, not exactly sure how this would work, what could they be held to account for.
Question Author
237 as i have, some friends, and people i have worked with, who were on contract and worked in ME, and any number of places in Europe. Also includes Scottish friends who worked here in the capital and commuting home at the weekend.
because some people believe that they are to totally to blame, some saying they should be imprisoned or shut down and some even calling them 'cold blooded murderers' and that they have 'blood on their hands'!

its an extreme and unfair accusation but they want to be seen to be at least trying to show some compassion and understanding for the depth of feeling some have about this... for people like you, so you can see that they do care and are not some heartless corporation only concerned for themselves.

even though they know they did not kill her and they could not have known this would happen, the fact is, it is linked to them.

although they are not responsible for her death they did 'light the blue touch paper' in her mind, i suppose.
Question Author
stable and door come to mind i am afraid. I have to go as dinner i realise is about to be ruined.
