Terrible though this is, humans have always done things like this to each other so we are not "coming" to anything.

See this list here of people killed in war, genocide etc. There were 30 million killed in China during the 1300s for example

jesus.....i heard this on the radio briefly earlier and thiught someone had shot another adult at the school. but to hear now that so many have died.....how senseless and tragic for everyone involved. america is truly screwed up regarding the right to bear arms, but they keep letting things like this happen.....

am watching it live on the web (bbc) and they are saying that a whole class of children are still unaccounted for.....i just don't understand the hatred that somebody must have to do something like this - particulalry to young children. it's shocking.

With the amount of guns in the usa, legal and illegal im never surprised when this type of thing happens, ive seen the programmes on sky where gun shops are promoting these huge guns and showing them off like they are the next "must have" weapon, gun attitudes in the USA are quite frightening. Ive been around guns all my life and I have never noticed this type of attitude here. It really is scary stuff.

At least 27 dead, many of them children, it's just beyond comprehension what could drive anyone to do that.

Just saying on the news there may have been a shooting near the school beforehand though sounds like a rumour so not sure how accurate that is.

Saying here 18 pupils 8 adults. 20 yr old shooter appeared to target specific class. Theres another person in custody and thet're trying to acertain if they had anything to do with it

Rumours about another hostage situation unconfirmed too and a link with another state investigation in New Jersey, all just speculation at the moment though. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Rumour now that one of the shooter's parents had been found dead. Implication is they were shot.

Looks like Ryan Lanza 24 left his Hoboken home and went to the school to target the class where his mum was a teacher. He shot her and the kids. He had 3 guns on him and dresses in the usual rambo style garb. Usual analysis on tv here but no mention of gun control.
