No problem there but how is it that they can get fat living on benefits? surely we are paying them too much in the first place. How can they afford to smoke drink and live on takeaways? Benefits must be huge.

I've always thought Iain Duncan Smith has the look of the workhouse master about him. Perhaps if the Tories had won a clear majority at the last election we'd be seeing some company, Group4 comes to mind, tendering for the construction and running of the workhouses.

"benefits are not huge" - Sorry but they can smoke drink and get fat, pay bills, have xboxes, plasma TV's, computers, etc etc, I'd say benefits are far bigger than merely a safety net.

You're preaching to the converted Ummm ;) I was cooking from the age of 8-9, my kids could throw together a meal if they had to. Proper cookery lessons should be compulsory in school, not making fairy cakes and pizza etc.

It just seems there are entire estates full of claimants with all mod cons and the workers among us are paying, is anyone surprised we get resentful? They all seem to the latest phones, Ipad/pods etc. I just wonder if I should quit my job as a career move!

We are not on benefits, not far off qualifying though, and we can't afford all those things you mention. I know several people on benefits and honestly they do have a better lifestyle than us, lovely houses and possessions. It really doesn't make any sense.

Also I hear this morning that one MP wants the fuel allowance to be limited just to the poorest OAPs. If means tested this would just about cut us out too as we would just be over the limit savings-wise. The "poorest pensioners" presumably are on maximum benefits anyway (or should be) .......
