I am as confused as lcg and have the same thoughts as rojash. Let me see if I have it right:
The C of E will now allow homosexual men to become bishops. As far as I know, homosexuality is against the teachings of Christianity.
The C of E will not allow women (of any sexual persuasion) to become bishops. As far as I know being female is not against the teachings of Christianity.
The notion that they will allow those in Civil Partnerships to become bishops provided they remain celibate (and renounce their earlier "sins") is absolutely laughable. What do they think those men will do? Say to their partners “Well sorry, that’s it for the naughties, I’m stepping up to Bishop next week. And by the way, I'm dreadfully regretful about all our earlier sinful activities!!”
Indeed, you could not make it up. How anybody (women or gay men in particular) could become involved with such a ludicrous organisation defies belief.
