nope.....should be life for child killers (and every other killer for that matter). and no, she should not be 'catered for'. should be locked up 24hrs a day with basic food until she dies.
i just cannot understand the logic of these religious fanatics - they moan and wail about things bringing shame on them - usually fairy petty things that some people wouldnt like but would let go - yet will commit massive atrocities as punishment for these petty things - and yet seem to feel that is acceptable and feel justified.
a minor 'infraction' is addressed with a horrendous crime - they cannot see that their crime far outweighs the one they are punishing
i just cannot understand how a mind can come to those conclusions - what religion can possibly say that is correct?
No religion as currently practised by its majority allows such practices but some adherents will use religion as some self-justification. This woman was not distinguishable from other parents who kill, or use unwarranted or extreme violence on, their own child. In the instant case, the accused used religion or disobedience on a religious topic for her having an uncontrolled, irrational temper which was the true cause of the child's suffering.
No religion says these things are correct, blame the person no the millions upon millions of people who follow a particular faith. There will always be bad, mad and dangerous people and they will come from a cross section of the community.
//On average, every week in England and Wales at least one child is killed at the hands of another person.
Every ten days in England and Wales one child is killed at the hands of their parent. In almost two thirds (65% on average) of all cases of children killed at the hands of another person, the parent is the principal suspect.//
I believe in the the majority of cases the perpetrator is not muslim
I don’t know how many Muslim children are killed by their parents – certainly quite a few - but this murder cannot be compared to those committed through, say, a temporary loss of control, or to the effects of drink or drugs. “The court heard she treated Yaseen like a "dog" and repeatedly beat him with a stick for failing to memorise religious texts quickly enough”. The simple fact is that this murder was committed in the name of religion – and that’s the issue. When religion affects the mind to the extent that religion takes precedence over a child's well-being, we have surely to acknowledge that something within that culture is dreadfully amiss.
Violent anti-abortionists have killed medical professionals in the USA and given their justification as religious belief, they were white christians. Should I blame the murder or should I blame the global christian community for the actions of a mad man?
/When religion affects the mind to the extent that religion takes precedence over a child's well-being, we have surely to acknowledge that something within that culture is dreadfully amiss./
agree with that Naomi
though I can't get too worked up trying to decide whether Muslims are any worse in that respect than any other brand of deluded theist
I think what makes this particularly sad though is that the lad was murdered for not learning a book fast enough. I often wonder, if Allah is determined that the Koran is learned parrot fashion, then, being all powerful, why has he not merely downloaded it into all of our memories and burnt it in, ROM like?
