Will we see the Bulgarians and Romanians taking over from the Poles?

How will our schools cope let alone out benefits systems that will no doubt be milked.

I'm looking forward to my cousins Bogdan and Radu coming over
Why do you assume the benefits system will be 'milked'?

Do you have any evidence to back this up?
Why do you think that people come here to milk the benefits system?
as soon as they gain ''british citizenship''...they are entitled to all the benefits that are available even tho they have never contributed to the system...is that fair on people who have paid their dues over the years??? i think not...
they don't exactly hand out British citizenship at Heathrow, y'know
if they live in a poor or poorer country, why wouldn't they move, if we didn't have such a generous benefit system would many come here, i very much doubt it. Economic migrants are nothing new, if more arrive where will they work, live, or send their children to school. Which we are told are already at breaking point, particularly so in the capital, and other large cities.
I've noticed a lot of Russians on sites lately. ( Boy, do they hate the Poles)
Does anyone know how they all come to be working here?
they don't have to, seeing as how if you are in the EU, you are entitled, even though there is a disparity in our countries economies and welfare systems. The usual response is that British can go there, but why would you if there is no work, and that is the reason they are here?
"Why do you assume the benefits system will be 'milked'?

plenty of evidence over the past 40 or so years of previous immigrants floods, so no more really needed.

The fact that we dish out benefits to all and sundry certainly will be uppermost in most of their thoughts before they travel here with no jobs to go to or places to live.

the majority will be well aware of their rights and entitlements before they even buy their one way tickets

but of course the naive handwringers will believe otherwise as they always do.
can't help feeling the UK is a lot less attractive these days to would-be immigrants than it once was.
Where will this dream of a multi cultural mixed Britain finish up?

Our Black citizens do not like the Eastern Europeans, and our Indians do not get along with the Pakistanis, and the pre- mass immigration Britons are expected to get on with everyone.

Last night on a radio phone-in there was a discussion on immigration, and when a black chap phoned in, he came up with some disturbing points.

He was complaining on the huge increase of Eastern Europeans, and the future threat of more coming into the country from Romania and Bulgaria.

He said that in London there was a very big problem with immigrants from Eastern Europe, especially if a black person was walking past groups of these Eastern Europeans.

He went on to say that there was an increase of racism since they came into the country, but went on to say he didn't actually think they were being racist, because some had never seen a black person, and thought they were primevals.

He gave an example were he once went along with his white mate, who had been invited to a friends, who had married a Rumanian girl

When they arrived at the house, the wife was so alarmed at the sight of him that she shouted no, no, monkey, monkey, which in turn seems to be reminiscent of the problem black players experience when they play Eastern European teams.
the pre-mass immigration Britons, that'd be the ones here watching the Romans arrive?
The Romans came and eventually conquered, killed many, and forced their will on the inhabitants, not all who have come here have been welcomed or indeed been beneficial to the established population.
atalanta, but that won't stop many from coming, we are still considered to be the land of milk and honey, it isn't like that in reality, but they don't know that.
AOG and if a ginger person had turned up would she have screamed 'orangatang, orangatang'?
have any foreigners ever been welcomed, em? But all of them have enriched the country - even the Vikings, though I admit it was a close-run thing with them.

Even American soldiers in the war were often resented, though it's doubtful that the war would have been won without them.
we have fought endless wars to stop this little island from being invaded, taken over, plundered. We lost millions of people notably in both world wars, so time to start looking after the people who are here now, who have made and make a decent contribution, and not the bludgers of this world.
Do you suggest kicking our own skivers out then Em or are they OK because they are 'British'?
Personally I love living in a multicultural society. I don't want to see our country any more financially strapped so would welcome stricter immigration rules, but this has nothing to do with not wanting multiculturalism. I am married to a Russian!

I agree with Lottie.
