i will never understand the matter of gun ownership, either in US or here.
unless as Ratter says it's for vermin control, not that i like that idea either, depends what one considers vermin, and shooting for fun, clay pigeon is fine, but i really hate the idea of birds being shot out of the skies like pheasant shooting, seems rather outmoded.

Which would completely destroy any value, Ratter... You're certainly welcome to your views, and as an American, I would defend to the death your right to hold and express them. However, it's a matter (in my opinion) of difference in basic life's philosophy:

I will not delegate my family's safety to others nor will I be dictated to by any tyrannical government that may evolve... after all, we went through that in 1776. The fact that you wish to live differently is your God given choice...
