I know this is not possible, but shouldn't he now have to start his original light sentence of eight years all over again without any more releases, because it is obvious even though he has been given chance after chance, he still has not learnt his lesson?

Life sentence perhaps, but it wouldn't have been the case, he was a minor when he committed the offence, perhaps with some earlier intervention in his life this might have saved him and the poor boy he killed.
