I'm getting confused now....

So AOG, when you said "Make no mistake he has not been treated the same as any other ordinary Joe, that can be see from what he has achieved in his amazingly short service career." you were not suggesting he has received preferential treatment?
AOG - Both Harry and my son joined AAC from other regiments/corps and therefore are entitled to wear their 'mother-unit' cap-badges........which makes your comment /// (now who else would be allowed to do that)/// somewhat redundant.
Your grandson will, naturally, have AAC cap-badge.
Glad we've cleared that one up.

You have given details of his service history to highlight his 'preferential treatment', I simply sought to confirm that his AAC training is exactly that of any attack-helicopter pilot.

Your 'humourus' cartoon would have been better had you also affixed the caption thereon.

Ah I see I was foolish enough to use an Aussie based, we all know that they like to stir things up, i completely forgot the Katie hospital affair.

It is no use me using any other evidence to the fact of what he really said, some of you not only wear rose tinted specs, but you seem also to constantly have your MP3 player earphones plugged into your ears as well.

/// Asked before he left Afghanistan if he had killed insurgents during his tour, he said: "Yeah, so, lots of people have. Yes, we fire when we have to, take a life to save a life, but essentially we're more of a deterrent than anything else. ///

There are countless other sites that confirm what he said, don't go on what you wish to hear, check out the concerns of his security team etc.

Good cartoon in the DM today....................

Would that be the red beret of the Royal Military Police?
///Most of the adoration of Harry is brought on by the females of answerbank, who will back him because he is the son of their other much adored, Diana.///

Not the case for me, I think Harry is a nice young bloke but I couldn't stand his mother, who I met on more than one occasion due to involvement in a charity she was a patron of.

/// Glad we've cleared that one up.///

Not quite, you still haven't mentioned the uniforms, is this normal for all transferees?
aog

i suspect there is no constitutional significance to what uniform your grandson (or any other of the rank and file) wears.

There is however for members of the Royal Family which is why so many of them have a wardrobe of them to choose from.

It must be like 'Mr Ben' when they are getting ready for state occasions.
AOG,
For the hard of understanding.......

http://news.sky.com/story/1040999/prince-harry-i-killed-taliban-in-afghanistan

Try and look past the sensational headline and listen to what he actually said. It's obvious that he was answering the first part of the question, which was basically that he was intimating that yes, he had fired upon the enemy.
People have foolishly taken that as a brazen "I killed the Taliban".
He did indicate that he had 'engaged' the enemy but "hasn't everyone out here". Or did you take that to mean that every single Serviceman out there has killed a Taliban fighter?

N.B. You will realise that the voice in the link is that of the actual English interviewer, not the 'added for effect from the studio' Australian one that asked him if he'd killed anyone in the link you provided earlier. As I posted earlier, the studio reporter coul dhave asked him if he'd set off some party poppers.
You will also note that in the written report, Harry's actual words are in inverted commas and reported accurately. No mention of the word 'kill' by him, though that hasn't stopped the Sky reporter from putting their own particular spin on it. Why would they do that I wonder? Because they know he didn't actually say that he had killed anyone.

So in closing, do you seriously believe that a Prince of these Isles would stand up and categorically state that he has killed someone?
What he did do is, as I've said before, conjure up an image and scenario's whereby he has had to engage enemy isurgents during his tour of duty as expected. He added no detail but instead left it to people's imagination as to what happens when engaged by an M230 Chain Gun.
The frankly pathetically wild, inaccurate reporting of what he said only supports his assertion that they print what they like anyway(as he said, no letter sent to his sister-in-law but that's not going to stop them) so people will doubtless get a mis-informed view of him.

Would that be the red beret of the Royal Military Police?
-------------------------------------------------
Correct, as no one else in the British Army wears one.
Zehul

I once knew a chap who was in the Civil defence, The Aux Fire Service, the Special Police, and the St Johns Ambulance Brigade.

We often wondered that if there happened to be an emergency call out, which uniform he would put on.
ChillDoubt

Would that be the red beret of the Royal Military Police?

Correct, as no one else in the British Army wears one.

No need to be so sharp, quite a few people often mistakenly refer the maroon beret of the Parachute Regiment as a red beret.
aog

could he fix cars?

all he needed to do was join the AA and he'd have had a full set.
//...Try and look past the sensational headline and listen to what he actually said....//

Unfortunately the Taliban and others wont look past the ' sensational headline '
i have read through the rest of these posts, no idea why it's still going.
some is pure bilge,
adoration of Diana, that's why we love Harry, heaven almighty, no it isn't, in every post more or less we have said the same that he seems a decent bloke, doing the job he so obviously loves, and gets a slating for that as well if he is seen cavorting with young ladies. Blimey give the bloke a break, unless something serious happens to the rest of the royals, he is never going to succeed to the throne, so why should it matter to anyone what he does.
No need to be so sharp, quite a few people often mistakenly refer the maroon beret of the Parachute Regiment as a red beret.
--------------------------------------------------
Exactly, which is why I made the clarification.
AOG - As you know there are few real differences between the majority of Regimental Uniforms.

However, Harry is a Captain in the Blues and Royals, and will have the right to wear their formal and regimental uniforms (pictures 1 & 3) when the occasion calls for it.

Picture 2 is the day to day uniform of a member of AAC and what our respective son/grandson will look like when in uniform but out of their flying baby-gros.......

For the hard of understanding of the truth.

This from the Guardian no less.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/jan/22/harry-old-fashioned-warrior-prince-afghanistan?INTCMP=SRCH

/// Which is why it is then perhaps such a shock to read in the interviews of Harry's ease with the bloody necessities of warfare. When asked if he had killed from the cockpit, the prince nonchalantly replied: "Yeah, so lots of people have." ///

Still not convinced try from the other side of the political spectrum.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/9820421/Prince-Harry-more-of-a-terrorist-target-after-admitting-to-killing-Taliban.html

/// When asked whether he had killed enemy fighters in Afghanistan, the Prince, known as Captain Wales on tour, said: “Yeah, so lots of people have. The squadron’s been out here. Everyone’s fired a certain amount." ///

And if these are still media lies, then we can all sit and wait for the publication of apologies from the press, but if true then I doubt that the deniers will be apologising, but that is not in the least unusual.

Have you watched the interview, AOG?
