They dont come much more pro-euro than Ken

I'm sure the EUSSR couldnt believe their luck (or was it ! ? conspiracy theorists) when he was "brought" back into government, sitting at the left hand of the PM.

hes weak on law but very strong on EU, surprised he came back....not
Yes there was a 'fatal mistake' when Cameron brought back Ken Clarke
into goverment. Most Tories and most people want us to be tough on crime , and anti EU . Ken's soft on both.
Ken Clarke should join the Lib/Dems that's his natural home. Would he be welcome in the Labour Party, they are pro EU at the moment and need a good advocate.
You do realise that Cameron will be in the staying in the EU camp? You do not think he will negociate a better deal and then urge the country not to vote for it, do you?
Gromit, you assume that he will manage to negotiate a better deal.

Let's wait and see on that.

He probably won't be PM anyway.
He probaby won't even be leader of the Conservative Party then.

Maybe he has caught it off of his LibDem buddies. Promising stuff when he knows full well he won't be in power to have to deliver on those promises. He would not have made the promise of a referendum if he was 10 points ahead in the polls instead of way behind Labour.
No one can get the deal they want . He will only get what many others want and that means 5/10% of the members. The biggest problem with the EU is its agricultural policies and the inefficient French farmers will never give them up. In fact farmers everywhere wont give them up but the F
cont. French are the biggest recipients. The CAP has been the biggest single problem since it was set up in 1958.
Cameron will put all his desires in a manifesto and hope we will vote for him
and his wish list. If we do he will be in power for another 5 years even if he fails to get a single concession.

Labour wont win the next election , the Tories will lose it.
