What frivolity here on News. AOG will be rolling in his bed.

Actually, I am not against gay marriage, anything but.

However, I would have thought that there were far more important things for the consideration of Parliament as to the economy, defence and a sensible energy policy, given that the nuclear programme appears to be in shreds and Centrica are thinking of exiting UK future invesments and giving back £2bln (or was it £20bln) to shareholders. Not exactly encouraging jobs is it.
jack - thank you for allowing me to stroll around your thread. I can see it is not really an important issue to discuss, so will bid you farewell. Hope the sun shines on your big day.
I take it you won't be buying a hat , sir p?
I won't M-T; will you?

MPs have spent six hours debating the bill.

The Church (Catholic and Anglican) have spent two years on it.

One questions why (if they are so keen on preserving the institution of marriage) they haven't spent much time campaigning against the current divorce laws)!
Or rewarding married couples (straight or gay) tax-wise, a promise in the manifesto that has not been honoured yet, and is not to be in the next budget. They should have bundled it up with that, if they are going to change the law, link the two and say that they had to tackle this as a precursor to giving the break a few weeks later........

I have a feeling that the tax break will be shelved indefinitely...because someone at the Treasury worked out how much it's going to cost.
should i buy a hat? i'm only up the road you know
I suspect that the married tax break might resurface in the budget before the next election!
let us see how many churches, synagogues, Mosque's will go along with it, i don't agree or disagree with the ruling, but it's one thing to make it law, quite another to implement it.
Yay......Party xxx

Churches are specifically banned from performing same sex weddings.

And I'm not sure that gay couples will really want to spend upwards of £20K on their special day in a place where they are specifically not wanted.

Would you?
I bet the divorce lawyers are now rubbing their hands, since it is a known fact that homosexuals partnerships last a much shorter time than heterosexual ones.

/// In The Sexual Organization of the City, University of Chicago sociologist Edward Laumann argues that "typical gay city inhabitants spend most of their adult lives in 'transactional' relationships, or short-term commitments of less than six months. ///

/// A study of homosexual men in the Netherlands published in the journal AIDS found that the "duration of steady partnerships" was 1.5 years. ///

/// In his study of male homosexuality in Western Sexuality: Practice and Precept in Past and Present Times, Pollak found that "few homosexual relationships last longer than two years, with many men reporting hundreds of lifetime partners. ///

/// In Male and Female Homosexuality, Saghir and Robins found that the average male homosexual live-in relationship lasts between two and three years.///
I thought it was already legal?
