It's America. They have medals at every level, from conspicuous gallantry in the face of the enemy to just existing; an amused American veteran told me of a man who got cut by flying glass from a window. The window was broken because an army truck collided with the hut it was on. He got a medal.

Sorry I'm quite new round here and forgive me if i've not seen some sort of "in" joke but I must admit that I'm slightly shocked by the accusation of cowardice being leveled at our American friends. I know they major on giving themselves rewards for things but I've never thought that their intentions have been anything other than positive so I'm very confused by the anti US sentiment from rojash. I have not bothered to review all the former posts of this person so forgive me if I base the evaluation of this idiot on this post alone.

DangerUXD, we like a bit of casual racial stereotyping around here, as aog has noticed.
Sometimes it is not serious but echoing, or parodying, what was once a popular stereotype. It was once popular to regard Americans as less brave than we are. There was a great fuss when an American commander ordered that none of the people on his base were to travel to anywhere in London. The reason? A bomb had gone off the day before. The popular press went to town on this 'wimpishness', because it played into the stereotype.

But we seem to have forgotten that all Italians are cowards ! ("Italian tanks have 5 gears; one forward and four reverse")
