according to the police, the families of four of the men were aware that they had gone to Pakistan to join terrorist training - the families ordered them home and the men returned without undergoing any training.

There is no suggestion from the police that the families suspected the men were plotting to do anything.

i would never have sent our troops to Iraq, Afghanistan, or indeed Libya, we should stay out of these inter tribal wars, they are never going to be our business, and when the respective governments of these places ask for help, the government should say a polite but firm no. And it's no good some saying well we have to stop the Taliban somehow, let that be someone else's problem, because as we have seen all too often our troops, coalition troops, including the UN go in to be peacekeepers then get involved one way or another and end up being hated by both sides.

I was quite surprised to see the article describing the putative bombmaker as skilled - from I took from reading the article, none of them were skilled enough to tie shoelaces!
