Contents Of Cabin Luggage
I am travelling to Jersey with cabin luggage only next month. I have never done this before and would just like to get a few useful tips on how other travellers cope with packing my husbands shaving gel, aftershave, my deoderant, face creams, etc. - I never realised how much of the items I carry are in tubes and bottles. Any Handy hints would be greatly appreciated.

All creams and lotions must be in a clear plastic bag. Chek with the airline - their web site should have clear instructions as to what you may or may not take on board. Frankly, I'd take as little as possible and buy it over there.
Liquids can be carried within your hand baggage provided they are stored in containers no bigger than 100ml and are carried in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag with maximum dimensions of 20 x 20cms. Each passenger can carry a maximum of 1000ml (e.g. 10 x 100ml). The plastic bag will need to be presented separately at security and you may be required to dispose of liquids that do not meet the stated requirements.
You can buy little plastic bottles to decant things. I always use a shampoo and conditioner in 1 purely for travel (the Dove one is OK) and that`s one bottle saved. If you`re desperate, you can buy deodorant wipes instead of spray/roll on. You can use just one face cream instead of day and night ones. It`s quite easy to cut down what you take.
I once flew with hand luggage only and was only able to do so because I was also travelling with a friend and her 10 year old daughter and I was able to use her daughters liquid 'allowance' for some of my stuff. The problem is that so many things are classed as liquid. The things I would normally use on holiday are shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, deoderant, body lotion, face cream, hand cream, cleanser, foundation, mascara, lipstick and lip salve.
