We hear so much support for Labour by our two most ardent Labour supporters Gromit & jake-the-peg, perhaps they would care to enlighten us all by setting out a mini manifesto of what Labour will do for this country, in the event of them getting back in power?
Don't get too excited chaps. UKIP won't mind upsetting the cart mid term but general election? I think not. Don't forget also that Labour will be losing all the Scottish seats after independence so I'd say Labour old and new will be out for a while yet.
Who writes Clegg's script. He called that a 'stunning' victory. The man is nuts!
I don't want to spoil any surprises but Scotland isn't going to vote for independence and even if it did it wouldn't be leaving the UK before the next election.
Also, although "stunning" is not the word I'd use to describe the LibDem victory it was a victory which strengthens their hand in the coalition and does make Cameron look very vulnerable.
I've been thinking for some time that perhaps the LibDems aren't going to be as damaged by the coalition as we've been thinking. And that's more bad news for the Tories because it means that many Labour voters may yet vote tactically at the next election. And if the LibDems keep up their share of seats at the expense of the Tories it enhances the prospects of an anti-Tory coalition in the future.

If Labour presided over a period of record growth that was "left to them by the previous Tory government, and when the 'world' was going though a period of economic growth", is it not fair to say that we can't lay all the blame for the recession at Labour's feet, seeing as much of the western world is suffering from the same economic woes?

I'm thinking of Germany, France, Spain and Italy specifically - but also Japan!

Any break up of the United Kingdom would happen AFTER the next election. Last time I looked full Scottish Independence was only supported by 27% of Scots so is inlikely to happen at all.
It was a fantastic result for all the parties concerned. That's what they all said on the radio this morning.

AOG. I am not a Labour supporter. I haven't voted for them in more than 20 years and the only time I did was more of an Anti-Thatcher vote rather than a Labour one.

A Mini Labour Manifesto.
1. Tax cuts for everyone earning less than £50K p.a.
2. Increase the tax threshold to £10,000
3. Stop Quantative Easing and instead use the money to give Governmet loans to small businesses
4. Slow down our deficit repayments and instead invest in infrastructure projects and job creation projects.

The above to get some growth into the economy.

5. Don't ban bankers bonuses tax them. 50% on all bonuses that are more than the average wage (£26,000 currently).
6. Close the loopholes that allow corporate x avoidance schemes.
7. Take a more active role in the EU to make policies we agree with rather than be sidelined and complain when they happen.
8. More Police. Restore the 10,000 that have been cut.
// Don't ban bankers bonuses tax them. 50% on all bonuses that are more than the average wage (£26,000 currently). //

Is our government allowed to make decisions like that?
Its a pity the did come 3rd, people should not have voted for them at all.
TWR......you are quite right.......

Where did your team come?
>Don't ban bankers bonuses tax them. 50% on all bonuses that are more than the average wage.
Tax is already paid on bonuses, and for those earning more than around £40000 the tax will already be at 40%, and for most of the people getting big bonuses the tax rate is 45-50%.
I don't understand why bankers' bonuses should be treated differently in tax terms to any other workers' bonuses, although there has been a precedent with additional taxes on bankers but that was more to do with sending a message and appeasing non-bankers.
A lot of those who get bonuses in banks are counter staff and admin staff who have met their performance targets and are not fat cats. Their bonus is probably a fe whundred pounds a year at most

Factor,

I agree, not just bankers, any bonus that exceeds the minimum wage.
I live near Eastleigh and have had some dealings with the population....its a bit of an odd place.
The country is basically split into two sections. We have Labour alligned with the hand wringing Liberals and in the other lefty Tories with right wing UKIP. Whoever can overcome their prejudices and form an alliance at the next election will surely win. Fifty shades of grey Cameron seems intent of not be steamrollered by UKIP so they should definately get shot of this man with Labour tendencies.
3rd Squad, people in this country have very short memories! they vote for liars, cheats, millionaires that do not give a toss how people are effected by their policies, hospitals, Schools, Employment, Britain!!!!
I'm puzzled as to why so many on here seem so desperate to get Labour back in power! Did I miss something wonderful that they did between 1997-2010?
That would be a good mini manifesto but I don't think it would be a Labour one!
"Did I miss something wonderful that they did between 1997-2010? "

Re-instate the unions at GCHQ
Devolution for Scotland and Wales
Re-balance the spending on education
The Anglo-Irish Agreement

to name but 4 ... Lots of other stats but ...
... one person's "wonderful" is someone else's "terrible" so the question is in a sense pointless
Re-instate the unions at GCHQ - That's good is it????
Devolution for Scotland and Wales - Pointless expense creating another layer of snout in the trough politicians to pay for not to mention the holyrood lego set!
Re-balance the spending on education - please ellaborate.
The Anglo-Irish Agreement - Surrender to the IRA and invite them to put their snouts in our trough, wonderful!
