The door hasn't got a handle on your side. It's really the first couple of weeks that are deterrent. Years ago the London Stipendiary Magistrates such as at Bow Street, used to remand everybody who'd never been in custody, for a week, on any excuse. The reason was that the defendants had no idea what it was like being banged up for 24 hours a day, as remand prisoners were. The shock of a week would be enough.
I friend of mine was sentenced to 2 years, he went to Pentonville for the first 6 months, he maintains the first 2 weeks were the worst ever and had he been let out after that, he'd never set a foot wrong again. After the 2 weeks a routine started to form and he settled down and completed the rest of the year without issue.
he's got a book to write ... the time will fly by
You've got to feel sorry for Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce.

The one minute, spending a life of lavish luxury, not really wanting for anything, all at the tax payers expense...

...the next minute, they'll be back out of prison.
And in prison - at the taxpayers expense.

He should be made to pay for his stay
Chill

don't despair

it's only youngmafbog LOL
A sad attempt at put - yet again.

I note you have not bothered to answer the question.

But then prisons and pinkos, sorry liberal leaning left wingers, like you it is expected I suppose.
... there isn't actually a question though

... I'm a bit left leading as well so I guess my input isn't welcome either?

What question?

ymb's English Comprehension abilities let him down again I see
Must help if you are a multi-millionairre with a string of properties and on release not having to go hands on knees just to get a job that pays the minimum wage.
if prison actually worked, why do so many reoffend.
em 10 so do you reckon they both will re offend then?
MPs should serve out their sentences on the front line in such places as Afghanistan, perhaps then they wouldn't be too keen of starting such conflicts and then sending out our young soldiers to fight their wars for them.

That's a bit unfair AOG, Huhne didn't get a chance to vote on going to war in Iraq - he was only elected in 2005

At the risk of being repetitive,

What question youngmafbog?
you never know with those two, besides which many do reoffend, so why isn't prison a deterrent..

Hey ho things are looking up already

"Pryce and Huhne could both be out of prison within two months under home detention curfews"

No doubt Huhne would already have been aware of exactly what he was getting into by pleading guilty.

Hes no dummy.

nothing I have so far read seems to suggest this is going to be a hard time for him, a bit of a shock to start with but no different to jumping in a cold swimming pool, you soon get used to it.
All those new people to get to know, new routines etc etc, it will be over in a flash, by the summer it will be a dim and distant memory for him.

It really is a joke
perhaps, but i am sure some inside won't give him any easy time...
Huhne will end up in an open prison after the first 10 days in Wandsworth.
He will get a job like running the library or the medical centre reception desk. His only disadvantage from the prison job point of view is that he will only be in there for 6 to 8 weeks so not time to learn a decent job.
so why did the judge say he will do 4 months, half the sentence handed down. what do you know that we don't?
