Whatever your personal opinion of Thatcher and her legacy, the fact remains that she was an incredibly divisive figure; For some, a virtual angel who could do no wrong and brought salvation to Albions shores; for others a idealogue with the voice of a dalek who set out to destroy anything she did not like.

no she never, she waged war on the far too long powerful union bosses, who were killing this country. She over stayed the welcome like most political leaders, and her own party turned on her, but she was elected three terms, so who on earth do you think were voting all that time, it wasn't the ruling classes, but the man on the street, those who had become fed up to the back teeth with a sizeable minority causing problems for the majority. Even many of those who were union members didn't always agree with the strike actions, not every miner was in favour, but come out they did, again and again. when the power was restricted that i suspect was when joe public got really peed off, i know i was.

These "death parties" over Thatcher should tell you why it is her that is a figure capable of creating such feelings, even after 26 years out of the limelight. She cast a big shadow, and had her hands on the levers of power, unlike the relative pygmies of Scargill or Red Robbo.

Now, if you or anyone else wishes to hold such a party when Scargill shuffles off his mortal coil ( And I can think of a few in the NUM who might) you are perfectly entitled to do so - its not illegal. Such parties, as those over Tnatcher, are rather tasteless, but are examples of fringe opinion.
