Bill Roache has apparently been arrested on a sex claim about an incident in 1967 when he's supposed to have raped a 15 year old girl!

I am confused - again. Allegedly there have been allegations made against certain celebrities. OK, some were questioned and arrested months ago. Surely at the time of arrest the police would have already talked with the accuser/s.

How come there is a necessity to bail the 'culprits' for months? Plod has the 'evidence' - so what's the problem? Why not take them to court?

PS: The Max Clifford one will be interesting. Hope the cops have got their story right.

I think the interpretation of 'legitimate' rape has changed considerably since 1967.

Or are we now taking our views and laws some 46 years on and retrospectively applying them?

These men were grown/adult men at the time of these offences. Many of the victims seem to be either a) under-age or b) unwilling.
