Tuart Hall To Be Sued - What A Surprise
I did say a week or so back on this forum that many of these people who are bringing up old cases like Stuart Hall's case are doing it mainly to extract money from the "rich and famous".
Well here we have proof, a number of people are now going to sue Stuart Hall.
What next, adverts on TV saying "Been molested by a famous person- go to web site ive_been_molested.com - there is no win no fee".

The legal fiction is that the victim is put in the place they would have been in had the act complained of not occurred. The law cannot unravel years of torment the best it can do is provide monetary compensation.
I do not see why it is considered acceptable for someone to be injured, say as a result of a car accident which is someone else's fault and be able to claim compensation; yet when someone is abused the victims are somehow criticised. Can we just remember that Hall was a predator and peadophile who assaulted children and young women?!

i wouldn't go for money, but to get justice, as one woman pointed out in yesterdays paper, he appeared to be above everyone else, and that the culture at the BBC and beyond made it easy for him to behave this way.
and as i already said he has admitted the charges, that includes the then nine year old, how despicable are some who think she might want only monetary compensation. He and others like him are finally being brought to book, and for that we have to thank some who have been brave enough to come forward, because take it from me, it does take tremendous courage to walk through of the doors of a police station to make this sort of case.

Barmaid....I agree with you comments re compensation for physical and some mental impairments of function, loss of earnings and loss of career potential, depending upon medical reports.
Some medical reports are not worth the paper that they are written on and particularly some psychiatric reports and yet many come to court.
We are dealing with mental trauma of some decades past and the important aspect of "causation."
I have no objection to bona fida medical records and psychiatric reports which on balance would suggest sexual abuse as causation.
I feel that we may have a significant number of nebulous complaints of sexual abuse unsupported by medical evidence, but my hopes are that the law is astute enough to deal with them accordingly.
