How many do they expect to say yes, would you?

There is certainly something wrong if there is a shortage of decent drinking water in this county, why can't they use treated sea water, it is all around us?

If we are that short of drinking water why don't they operate a two water system, since most of the water used is for toilet flushing, washing and bathing, then that could be re-cycled sewage water, with the other system used for drinking and cooking alone?

Modeller,

I was not aware the flood was supposed to have lasted 10 months, do you have a reference for that?

Age of the Earth according to the bible is about 4,400 years from Adam to Jesus, so about 6,400 there abouts.

Assumng Everest is the highest point on the planet at 30,000 feet, and the flood lasted 10 months, then we can assume it took 5 months to reach its peak above
Everest and 5 months to get back to normal sea level. So Everest must have been above Ararat and visible for 2 monrhs prior to the Ark arriving at Ararat.

Something doesn't add up. I am guessing the record in our Holy book might be a tad wrong.
gromit GENESIS : 7.17 For 40 days the flood kept coming.
7:18/19/20 The waters rose and covered all earth's mountains to a depth of more than 20 feet. 7.23 Everything wiped out on earth except Noah's family. 7.24 The waters flooded the earth for 150 Days . that's
( 5 months )
8.4 On the 17th Day of the the 7th Month Ark came to rest on Arafat.
8.5 And on the first day of the 10th Month tho tops of the mountains became visible. 8.6 After 'Another 40 Days 8.,7 and sent out the raven.
8.9 But the dove couldn't find place to set its feet. 8.10 He waited another 7 more days and the dove brought back with a leaf.
8.12 He waited Another 7 Days and this time it didn't return.

The next bit is ambiguous 8.13 By the 1st day of the 1st month of Noah's 601 year he removed the covering 8.14 By the 27th day of the 2nd month the earth was dry . 8.15/16/17/19 God said to Noah "Come out of the Ark and bring the animals with you.

So it says 1st day of 10th month plus 40days plus 7 days. That plus another 7 days that makes 11 and a half months , before the dove could find somewhere to land.

If you add the ambiguous part 8.13-19 it would total over 13 months before they left the Ark.
i.e If you add the 1st day of the 1st month to the 27th day of the second month that's another two months.

I dont know why you think it took 5 months to reach the top of Everest. Floods can happen very quickly and it said the flood kept going for 40 days. So Everest would have been covered and exceeded during those 40 days and it covered even the highest mountains by ,Gen: 8.20, by 20ft for 5 months until it started to recede.and it wasn't until the 10th month that the tops of montains became visible.
Gromit Of course the whole story is rubbish but it's what most of the the Theists believe .I have read read slight variations in different versions of the OT but these extracts were taken from Gideons International 1988
AOG the cost of treated seawater is at least 50x the cost of 'normal' water.
If we ever needed to go to that extreme we would need to charge for drinking water by the litre . I used to run a seawater desalination plant in Saudi Arabia , there it was largely solar powered , over here it would need to use gas or electricity to operate.
Aog Gromit There have been thousands of floods during the earths history but every one has been local , usually slow, and differences of two or three hundred feet. The flooding of the Black Sea by the Med is an example but doesn't fit the Noah's story apart from being in the general area.
Here is quite a good site to see,

Eddie, desalinated water might have been 50x the cost of ground water years ago when electrolysis was the only practical way to desalinate water, with reverse osmosis desalination the cost has dropped hugely, but it's still 2-3x the cost of ground water.
Anotheoldgit, the report says Australia, Spain and America re-use waste water, do you th they are Third World countries?
That should read, "...do you think etc..?"
