The Conservative Party is split over Europe, and plan to embarrass Cameron.

// Downing Street said it would tell ministers to abstain this week from a key vote that effectively calls for Mr Cameron’s pledge to have an in/out referendum on Europe in 2017 to be put into law.
Eurosceptic MPs are planning a vote that will “express regret” that the Queen’s Speech did not contain a “paving Bill” for a referendum — an absence that has prompted fury among Tory backbenchers.
Downing Street said that ministers would be expected to abstain from the vote — creating the almost unprecedented situation where members of the Government would not vote in support of the Queen’s Speech.
The plan creates a loyalty test for every Cabinet minister and more junior members of the Government.
If any of the approximately 100 ministers and parliamentary private secretaries (PPEs) were to vote for the motion, it would be a huge embarrassment to Mr Cameron. //

Is this mess of Cameron's own making?
Should the Euro Skeptics just go and join UKiP?
Will they ruin another Party leaders reign like they did with John Major?

what paywall is that Gromit? I don't subscribe, but I can read the report you've referenced.
Please give it a rest Gromit your frequent Anti-Tory Party posts are getting rather boring.

Post about something else. Little kittens. How talentless Alan Carr is. Your favourite colour smartie. Anything other than rubbish like this.

Perhaps they've banned him because of his continuous anti Tory postings on AB?
AOG...Goodness gracious....that's a bit harsh isn't it ? Its a perfectly suitable post, albeit that it doesn't agree with your own views. What a dull world it would be if we all agreed with each other !

The Tory party has always been torn over Europe, so this latest manifestation shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. It will be a test of Cameron's ability as a leader to ride the storm.

The Daily Telegraph paywall allows 20 page views a month . After that, you have to pay. If I am commenting on a story in the Telegraph, I intend to acknowledge the source, but not post a link.

Here is the story on the BBC.

Anotheoldgit, you have been a Tory voter for at the vast majority of your life yet you have often been critical of Cameron and have called for his removal, perhaps you should listen to your own advice...

This story is the main headline on all the quality newspaper sites so it is a valid post.

This omnishambles of a Government needs to be addressed and I will continue to highlight their many failings.

Sorry if that is boring, but feel free not to bother posting on them in future, if that is your view.
AOG - saying give it a risk because he thinks another ABer is obsessed on a topic?

There's a turn up.

I'm sure Gromit will stop posting about the Tory Party's embarrassments when you stop boring us with your 'Not another stabbing' posts

Maybe you should take your own advice, when I post on subjects that you find repetitive and boring?

Certainly is especially when I said 'REST' and not 'RISK' you can't even blame that on a typo, especially when the wrongly pressed keys are so far apart.

Incidentally the comment I made to Gromit was in retaliation to the same remark he first made to me.

Boring eh? Strange since they always seem to attract plenty of responses, but I do agree they are getting rather boring (the stabbings I mean, not the threads) since they seem to happen on such a regular occurrence, another one yesterday I see.

What has that got to do with this thread, why don't you post it as a question, or do you consider it safer to sit on the fence and make your comments from there?

If you do, then please don't think you are on your own, plenty on here do exactly the same on a regular basis.
the Tories have been in disarray over Europe for decades. The Business Wing of the party sees Britain making a lot of money out of trading with Europe. The Flagwaving Wing wants Britain to stand alone against the continental hordes, possibly with the aid of the Empire. It's a huge fault line and it won't go away, whatever actually happens. It's not big enough to split the party - but it's splitting the party's voters.

Not many quality newspapers it would seem, when they all spell 'DISARRAY', as 'DISARRY'
Don't know about that, aog. Last week The Times had "appall" for "appal" and allowed "maybe" when "may be" was intended. Both errors were corrected in later editions. Gromit may do the same in a later printing of his word. The Times is a quality paper, isn't it?

(Yes, I do know that "appall" is an American spelling. However,The Times is not the New York Times)

Oh it's so nice to see how 'you chaps' stick together so.
AOG...go back to bed....I'm sure you will feel better after a nice nap.
Did I hear those cheeky little chattering monkeys again?
Aog we 'chaps' ? I am uncertain what that means or whether to feel honoured by inclusion. What explanation do you have for that choice of word?

I prefer to see mine, and your, errors of this nature as each being a mere 'lapsus calami' or perhaps I should say 'lapsus muris' , since a mouse rather than a pen is being used. Each should be ignored, unless it makes an amusing reading.
