The mother and daughter travelled 25 miles from their Paisley home to the Inn at Greenock more likeky to attend a function seeing that they left the Inn at 3.50 on the Thursday and returned in the early hours of the Friday.

Both were found at the hotel with slash wounds (not stab wounds), which both proved fatal to both mother and daughter, the mother was found in their room and the daughter in the hall way.

I don't think there is really any way of ever knowing for sure AOG, the absence of CCTV and live witnesses is a big problem.
Speculation won't achieve anything. We shall just have to wait for the result of an official investigation.
This story is very sad, and hope they get to the bottom of how they died.
Awfull thing to happen to them.
Well the police are not looking for anyone else .

Perhaps other members of the family might be able to throw some light on what might have been going on domestically , if anything .
Insufficient detail for any informed opinion, apart from the rather obvious point that if the Police are not looking for a third party then that must mean that mother and daughter inflicted the wounds themselves, either self-inflicted, on each other by agreement, or non-consensually.

Sounds pretty grim and sad, whichever way you look at it...

The paper makes a point of mentioning the wounds were slash wounds, rather than stab wounds, as you do in your OP - since you felt it important enough to repeat in your post, what do you think that significes, AoG?

I would have thought someone would know why they took the trip necessitating in their need to stay at the Premier Inn.

Was there some event that they attended?

The report does point to the injuries being inflicted by each on the other - but unless further evidence is released, we are unlikely to know.

A tragedy what ever the circumstances.
Do you really want to know. I'm sure I don't, I'm not so ghoulish.

Since the police are not looking for a third party.

Well if it was some pact between the two, one would expect one to directly 'stab' the other, and then for the other to directly 'stab' herself.

For both to obtain 'slash' wounds it would be more in keeping with a fight between the two, each lashing out at each other hence the slashes.

I cannot see it being some form of bizarre 'self harming' matter between the two, that went horribly wrong.

Slash wounds could mean they slashed their own wrists.
OK, AoG. I think ummm might actually have the right of it though.

Why do you have to be so insulting? I am in no way being ghoulish I was just entering a strange news story up for discussion.

If you do not want to join in, then that is your choice, but please do not join in just so that you can insult people.

Yes that thought never entered my head, well done ummmm.

The questions that must now be asked is, why did they not do that in their own home, why in a hotel miles from home and after a night out?
I think there is more to come out of this story.

i think it reasonable to conclude, based on what we are told, that some sort of serious argument took place, escalating into violence, possibly with drink involved.

I think it highly unlikely that any sort of mutual suicide pact took place - past history does not suggest that people who wish to die together do it by this violent means.
Also, just because they say they aren't looking for a 3rd party, doesn't mean they aren't.
and just because they aren't looking for a third party doesn't mean there wasn't one
@ jno "and just because they aren't looking for a third party doesn't mean there wasn't one"

Really? For those times that I can recall, thats exactly what it has meant, as far as the police are concerned.....

police not looking for a third party...............why would they say that if they are looking for someone ?
LazyGun, the police have been known to err. But I'll be surprised if we ever know the truth of this.
Sounds like a bitch fight that got seriously out of control, but that's purely guessing.
