You cant punish someone for something that their relatives have done. This is a policy that the Israeli's persue and they are still plagued by suicide bombings (there was one yesterday not that you would have noticed for the ridiculous amount of Media coverage for the London Bomb).  I watched the channel 4 news last night and watched the head of the muslim council of Britain being assaulted by extremists because of his moderate views on islam.  It is the hardline radical extremists that need deported/jailed as they preach/breed hatred of our society.  If I was to stand up in the middle of George square in Glasgow with a loudspeaker and preach hatred of Islam i'd get huckled but these guys do it every day and get away with it!

You can't punish their families if they weren't involved and knew nothing of the crime. Would you like to be punished for a crime your children or relatives committed?

Parents are already fined if their kid bunks off school. Some parents have even been to jail for it.

when a us or british soldier kills an iraqi civillian when bombing a supsects house, lets string up the parents of the soldiers too for their actions. Or if a person is killed in northern Ireland under the security forces shoot to kill policy, lets bulldoze their grannies houses too, and lets nuke Germany for the second world war, after all it was the current populations grandparents fault, and while your at it, lets raise the US to the ground for Vietnam. In fact lets kill everyone and leave you and your peverted sense of justice to sit back, look at the damage and say " that will teach 'em".   Do you read the Sun or the Daily Mail by any chance?

Agreed, but punishing innocent people for one persons actions is what governments do.

We all seem to conveniently forget that Saddam was a freind of the US during the Iran/Iraq war, they supplied him with all of his weapons. They also encouraged him to Invade Kuwait, we were still selling arms to him at that time too, amazing what a bit of oil ( iraq is a major producer) can do to change minds when we start to run out!  We are now paying for the mess in that country, a war most of us never wanted, but the popular press ignores this and just rants on about mad muslims.

The men that did this knew what they were doing at the time,they were adults.It's not as if the parents encoraged them to go out & blow themselves up.

It's a nice thought - to deter these bombers by threatening action on their families in the aftermath - but hey, some of these poor parents have no F*****G IDEA what their children really get up to in their hobby time ( "my son is a schoolteacher and in his spare time he likes to assemble bombs in the hope of blowing up his fellow Brits in the name of...." ). If you are a suicide bomber and you have been so swayed to care little about killing other humans in the name of a cause, would you consider letting your family get in the way?
They would find a way to justify this too.

The Americans, British, and all the Allied forces have killed thousands of moslems in Afghanistan, Iraq etc. many of them are innocent citizens, and 'we' are in 'their' country doing it.
If we were told that it was right to kill paedophiles, rapists and murderers then we (most of us) would go along with it, no questions asked. They are executed in some American States, and other countries.
But what if we are told that there is a group of people worse than paedophiles, rapists and murderers.. who are killing innocent people like ourselves.. maybe our relatives.. We would want to do something about that too.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
In a way, I understand their cause, but I DO NOT agree with their methods.
