/// ‘Nine men – four Syrians, two Iranians, an Egyptian, an Iraqi and a Palestinian – were arrested at the scene on suspicion of immigration offences.’ But it admitted: ‘Four of the men – two Syrians, an Egyptian and an Iranian – have since been released on immigration bail while their cases are considered by the Home Office. ///
Released on bail while their cases are considered????????????
They are illegals, they do not have a case, all of them should have been sent back immediately, we spend far too much time and money on them now as it is, they are not our responsibility.

due process being fading away to claim all sorts of benefits, housing, etc etc
kick them all out
what a tip this country has become, and some of you lot gladly condone and encourage it, youre as much a disgrace as our weak politicians who do nothing of any substance to stop it.
Wreck a country in 50 years....thats a skill to be proud of, all you do-gooders take a collective pat on the back

I don't quite understand your point, Zeuhl:
"Nine men – four Syrians, two Iranians, an Egyptian, an Iraqi and a Palestinian – were arrested at the scene."
i.e. one person who originates from Palestine was arrested. "How many of these countries equate to Palestine?" - One. I never claimed otherwise.
"Four of the men – two Syrians, an Egyptian and an Iranian – have since been released on immigration bail while their cases are considered..."
i.e. The Palestinian, I assume, is still in custody.
Anyway, all academic. I have no real interest where they come from. I am only interested in where they finish up. As usual and much to my dismay it looks as if many, if not all of them, will be remaining here.

I'm surmising my assumption was correct then?
Strange though that the usual let-them-all-in-regardless advocates deride those with genuine concerns, don't provide a reasonable case as to why they've made it all this way without seeking asylum in other EU countries they've passed through, won't recognise the facts and REAL reasons they've attempted illegal entry into the country.
But, as ever it's de rigeur to do so, that seems to be the only real reason.

@Zeuhl
youre about as naive as is possible, but then thats always been a trait of people of your ilk.
you believe what you want to believe and i'll carry on believing that of which i and plenty of others can see the proof happening around this country.
so you really think illegals cant get benefits do you !?
youd sit nicely in any kitchen cupboard with all the other mugs

I think it is important for us to be made aware of the identity of the people who are making the decisions about the future of this dross which suddenly arrives on our doorstep. Who are they - that act on our behalf and allow this bunch of uninvited people to camp here at our costs? Are the authorities at all answerable for their decisions? Deport and and invite applications for UK residency from the first point of arrival in the EUSSR.
